stid, the volleymomDee comes from when our daughter played travel ball; I was their team chaperone / "mom", and the moniker just stuck. I only wish I were athletic, mobile, and playing volleyball :)
I could meet you in front of the bug
dee LOL
ohh i just got ltns :)
aha! I know how you feel, then, Dee. I am not tall, athletic or mobile!

I'm envious, west

hello MLF, and adieu everyone! (((Hugs all))) *poof*
not that i recall, but it's possible, franny. i used a search tool for pix with purple green and orange as primary hues, and i like this one today

ahh volley - just saw your comment.. it wasn't me ppl were mean to - don't want to rehash things that were dumb inthe first place, but it was my friend JC i'm referring to. anyhoo...
dc, that looks like a chihuly exhibit, is it?
How many in the grid this time?
sounds sort of like a teeter totter
it's kind of fun how fast the tiles grey this one.
87 mlf
Dee, it was labelled as "ceiling of the Bellagio" that's all i know
no wonder its going so slow thanks Une
well, glad you are back. Dc, it reminds me of the Chihuly exhibit we saw in Pittsburgh... I would really be surprised if it isn't his work.
chihuly did the ceiling of the bellagio
ah, well thank you, spatial. I'd not a clue what the question was then, nor did i know that :)
Hey Babblers
DC - how do you put one icon on your profile, and another on the chog ??
:P
yay me I did recognize it... doing the happy dance ty bean!
and there you have it. spatial settles it. :) i Know i've seen that pic before tho - will bug me til i figure it out. i swear it was someone's personal pic.. hmmm
i thought it was a type of fish she was asking after, not a person *shrugs*
his work is really beautiful!
christine, to do that, upload a picture, then return to chog w/out saving your profile. Then, old pix displays here, and new in profile.
so it would seem, spatial. I'll have to keep an eye out for an exhibit
nite see u all tomorrow;)
let me find source, one sec...
ca 9
can any guide me to the the 2nd a in the 3rd column, please. I was totally impressed with the Pittsburgh exhibit; even if it was when I fell and broke my foot. If I were disgustingly wealthy, I would love to have one of the "flowers" exhibited there (starting price of about $5,000 (u.s.)
he's from the pacific northwest and I think he has a museum...portland maybe? southwest washington state?
speaking of art in PA - i still recall how impressed i was with the Philly airport - i couldn't get over all the art all over the terminals.
hi and surprisingly easy nbt
Chihuly is in Tacoma
help please josh with 2nd a in 3rd column?
http://tinyurl.com/yc2aujg is source of my icon
dee you might do this for your sins
Hi christine -- got an icon, I see!
hi, all. OK josh, now I have to pursue NBT straightaway!

and hi spatial
jili had a wonderful write up about him awhile back
aawww ty west... should have known that one

ty
ty josh, too
oh beautiful dc
does anyone have the lower e?
ea4, flosey
e4/4, flosey
well it's a tough name, no wonder you blanked it out
it was really interesting; you even posted a website. I really enjoyed looking at some of his other work, which was totally different from what dc is showing.
yes, it's really quite a great photo
DC, thanks for the tutorial. Jillibus told me how to get rid of my 'greyhead' (thanks again, Jillibus), so perhaps I'll try this other thing, sometime.
thanks josh
pwetty
http://labs.ideeinc.com/multicolr/
if I remember correctly, it is pronounce chu hoo lee
dc, I have the same image here and in your profile
and that's NBT
wtg flosey!
that is correct, jilli. i try to be careful about that.
go, go flosey
http://labs.ideeinc.com/multicolr/ is the tool i used to search for an image. you choose colors, and it returns images in that palette
nbt for me
phant cavort caveat
go, west, go
wtg west!
wtg west -- I'm 2 short
couldn't get that lonesome r lol
cool - tx for that link dc
Now that's odd -- I clicked on your profile to see an enlargement, and there was a picture of Lords a-leaping -- now, they've leapt away.
saw a wonderful Chihuly exhibition in Monterey a few years ago. And he made the entrance piece to the V&A Museum in London
ca 6 x 3...
that is odd, christine. i changed the icon about 7h ago, a bit after my local sunset
I heard about that London piece Ata... the man is finally getting recognition and opportunities his talents deserve.
PBS had a great program on Chihuly, about 4-5 years ago.
actually ca 6 x 4 dee
oooh ty vash! also still searching for the elusive 9
my blanks are the lower O and the A in the 2nd row
he's very well known over here
or5 and or4
a in second row is the at 5 ty josh and west... to at for sins
NBT, only one over minimum and in order but for that one over.
as her deserves to be!
go, melon
*he
wtg melon and josh and hi ata
thanks dee but I didn't ask even though I must do it
dcs what is your colorful icon???

snow is not nice, no!
whoot, found the 9, has it been called
I get to see him again on sunday if I am better
doesn't look squished here, jili
have you been sick ru?
when we live in Crystal City the flowers would still be blooming with snow on them
called, but elusive, still looking for it granny
yeah i'm over all this frigid whiteness we have West - ready for spring!
better, ruru? You sick? :(
phantom - and a persistent one! - piety
yeah.. picked up a bad cold from MRs. RU who I have been nursing
Awww to both of you, ruru!
so sorry to hear; took me forever to feel better from my December cold / sinus virus
I have a lot of made up ca 9's granny lol
I hate the coughing
I bought robitussin by the case
* grin * haven't seen it before.....
hi, grannyrose
there were not enough tissues in the world for us
For Ruru et al, just read this earlier: For those who are suffering from common or severe colds, they should take one tablespoon of luke warm honey with 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon powder daily for 3 days. This process will cure most chronic cough, cold and clear the sinuses.
hey dcs
NBT finally!
i'm a fan of neti pots
wtg, jilli
good advice fran I'll remember
wtg jilli
and I've also heard abotu oregano oil for clearing up remnants of viruses that cling on and on. I will report back in a week or two!
neti pots?
was she a dancer seain?
interesting
i got a neti, but so far have been afraid to actually use it!
small pot with a saline solution that you pour through your sinuses
my husband took about 20 vitamin c's per day and 8 zincs...
fran, that's what I was advised to take for arthritis
do I have to google neti or will somebody tell me what it is?
i was trepadacious at first, franny, but have come to love mine.
what flosey?
lol jilli
honey and cinnamon
oh, ty dc -- I have a friend who has been using that after a bad virus and swears by it
cool... I'll have to try it
Flosey - i got that info from this page, incl. arthritis: http://healthmad.com/alternative/10-mi raculous-health-benefits-of-honey-and- cinnamon-combo/
I found the ca 9 yippppppppppeeee
I still think Neti Potts sounds like an exotic dancer
i use mine once or twice a day.
I still think they sound like torture!
i go thru about a box of tissues a week : /
yay, dee
congrats dee!!!
well done, dee
gj dee !!
the pot seemed too scary, so for the time being I have been using a personal steam inhaler
ty dc
catenova = one's new kitten?
ty west... has made my face really soft, too LOL
that helps a lot, but not as much as the saline does
lol ata
good one ata
anyone found the 9 yet?
I really want it to be carnivore
granny did... and I just did... doing the happy dance
starts like a meat eater
ca9, ruru
thanks Franny, took it down, will check it out later
dee just found it, ruru --ca9, but don't ask me!
whee, got the 9, ty for the hint, Dee
1st 4 letters of meat eater + mouth shape in exclamation + one boob + a vowel... yw rb

bye franny!
Atalante - my fave, too. My actual ones were splendid this spring. They put on quite a show with the bearded irises & poppies for about two weeks.
got it!
they are just the most glorious flowers! They are the one thing that totally reminds me of childhood summers too
dee don't forget Michelangelo
(the 9) out-of-order erotic tan
hmmm
I wish I could see that flower!
famous for ants jili...
That's how I feel about bearded irises. When you're three you're abut as tall as one. They come up to your nose and smell glorious!
VMD - indeed!
lol
oh, of course, dee -- ty -- ours back east were famous for rose chafers -- disastrous!
wtg
at the end of each summer term, mum would make me a big bunch of them for my teacher, and I'd stagger in under the weight of this enormous bunch of flowers!
They are blowsy - in the best sense of the word!
they are sure gorgeous around here in the summer, but we do have to wash them well... the purple and periwinkle --ish colors were marvelous
and this is why I love Babble. I find like-minded souls who can rhapsodize about such things. . . :)
Not well versed on my flowers apparently
for sure melon
pe 5/16... starts like a commoner...
hello everyone
oh.. I have that one
hi lyn
hi lyn! hi stew!
howdy lyn
hello lyn
Phantom: attorney
hi lynxxx!
oh Ruru - how he has grown! he looks so proud!
he has the most beautiful face.. too
I should change the icon for a second
there!
darling
that's sweet, ruru, but I love the standing one
right column grey :)
he's just gorgeous!
good for you, melon!
smooshy face!
one more
cuddly, ruru!
definitely a smooshy face! good one lyn
he is going to be a very fine dog
there.. look at that mug
he is adorable ru
kind of squished picture though
thanks
makes me want a dog...
Handsome
he's already so proud of himself he's looking down his nose at us all
dogs are good things until you have to walk them in the snow and freezing cold :P
lol jili
true ata
stuck at sixty nine.
ruru, do you have Photoshop Elements?
69 pounds already?
she says looking out of the window lol
no..
does Hobbit have boots?
69 words LOL
she never stays still enough in one spot to need them :P
More importantly, do you have boots now Ata? how was your shopping
too bad -- very useful for unsquishing photos
I don't no! But only because I couldn't find any I liked. I'll have another look in a day or two
OK, over half, got the 9 and 6 of the 6s. I actually got out of bed to babble - silly me. nitey nite! {poof!}
phantom: cavort - Hobbit in the snow
gj melon glad you have your priorities straight
nite melon
that's a very good word for her!
night melon!
stuck at 68... thinking lickety is next...
i am pooped... and should go to bed..
Good night all you good people

well falling asleep 47 left for tomorrow...been fun...but I have to go lay me down to sleep...good night all! Poofy!
yes, ruru, and take care of that cold
has anyone here gotten there swine flu shot yet?
Goodnight Ruru & MP
night MPitt!
does anyone remember when Li'l Monkey posted a recipe for Thai Peanut Chicken ?
there, itty bitty baby grid, bathed, powdered and tucked away...
I got mine in October
not me, west
did you have any reaction ?
Congrats Rose!
yay rose !! did you sing it a lullaby too?
wtg rose
Night Jilli I sure enjoy your icons...always good to learn something or refresh what you filed away in the gray matter!
yes, dee. it didn't stop it, but it wasn't as severe as without it.
it was her own recipe and I made it today talk about delicious!!
need the word following the beautiful flower, any clues please?
haven't seen her in such a long time
need to decide soon if I am going to get one. I did get the regular one..
french for small, flosey
westford, can you please post it in your profile? i would love to have it. thanks
no H1N1 shot here, considered not urgent for us oldies -- got a seasonal flu shot then got sick, not a good time for getting shots
is that the Michelangelo one flosey?
or email it to me?
okay joey
thanks granny
thanks
my dr keeps trying to give me a swine flu shot but I've always got flu when he tries
How are you doing, joey?
that is why I am vascillating about whether I want to get it or not jili... just not sure what to do
I remember seeing that recipe west but guess I didn't take it down
that is what I am afraid of ata
not a good day today, didn't feel very well and had to go to a viewing.
that's strange, jilli.our health department is offering them for free to anyone who wants it.
thanks for asking. 5 down, 1 to go. have to get over this one first
if you've got a temperature, they won't give you the shot
so sorry joey
I could have pneumonia and not have a fever
we were told you can have the jab if you're ill, just not if you have a fever
Absolutely no reaction...it is a killed virus so there is no reaction to the virus...but sometimes the body can have a mild reaction to receiving an injection or the formation of the antibodies but not the flu...as long as you are not allergic to eggs which are used in developing the vaccine...reaction range from a little sore at injection site to mild fever or mild headache...nothing to worry about...my grandchildren had the nasal form of vacine, several family mbrs had it and no one had a reaction
dee, if you're young enough with no other co-morbidities like asthma, you will probably be okay
ty so much mpitt and granny... encouraging to know
mind you, having said that, i was so grateful to have had the shot. this flu made me weak as a kitten, and deathly tired.
last word, need the at5/14, any clues please?
ends with a man's nickname
different last letter to the at5/10
put sometimes vowel on end of at5, instead of what is there
my cold / sinus infection / virus also made me feel awful granny, which is why I started thinking about getting the swine flu shot, and I saw it advertised tonight that one of our pharmacies is offering them
thanks Ata, and that's Fireworks
WTG FLOSEY!!!
and thanks Granny
wtg, flosey
congrats Flosey!
wtg flosey
ty - was afraid it was going to be a 'mean
small grid, not bad at all!
brb
dee, i couldn't even wash the dishes without having to go back to bed for an hour.
are you better now, rose?
back again. posted the recipe in my profile we are just getting acquainted with Thai food so don't know if this is what it's supposed to taste like but it was sooo good
fireworks
thanks, i appreciate it a lot
I go back to bed for an hour before I do the dishes
yes, dee, and back at work, took me 2 weeks to get over it.
wtg ru... thot u went to bed!!! congrats
WTG RURU!!!
Amazing Ruru, you finished whilst asleep! Congrats!
rofl, BR
so glad you are better granny
nah.. I listed for the last ten.. couldn't find them..
Speaking of dishes..ugh.. I have a ton to do..
made soup and stock tonight.
my mom is 82 and she got the h1n1 shot because of comorbidities (diabetes) and my merman is getting it Thurs before we go on a cruise sunday...he is 66 he won't have built the antibodies (that takes about 2 weeks) however it may lessen symptoms or duration if he does catch it...
oooohhh, lucky ruru!!!
When/how did you get the flu Rose?
nite all ...*poofers*
nice magi write up west, enjoyed it!!
lyn, it started about 4 weeks ago, have been back at work for the last 2 weeks.

i'm pretty sure caught from himself, he started coughing a week or so before i became ill.he thought it was an asthma attack....
thanks joey
coping quite well, and yes, clerical duties still.
you are welcome and thanks for the recipe
who is going on a cruise and where?
it's super easy had to try out my new crock pot
great Rose, hope it all continues and you get back to normal this year
I hardly used my old one because the liner didn't come out and it couldn't be immersed in water
tried to do some gardening last friday, light pruning and sat for at least 1/2 hour weeding...paid for it in the afternoon, back to 2 walking sticks, panadol, endone and oxycontin.
awww so sorry to hear rose
!!
not sure if i will ever get back to my usual 10 hour shift.
are you done lyn?
should hope not
thanks west for printing the recipe
iahve to keep on trying, else i won't know what i cannot do.
ca/9??
didn't know if those exclamation points were fireworks

Hi West, no where near it. Too busy catching up on Rose's news. How are you?

good clue Rose
wow sure would discourage ever wanting to go again
19 hours ahead of you, westy, christmas already dismantled. :(

What from West?

oh lucky you mpit
well, himself and i are going on another cruise in february.

we didn't get anything while on the cruise..they are so careful now and have these hand sanitizers everywhere we think we got whatever we had at the airport coming home
TASMANIA!!!

wow; have some friends who are there as missionaries
lol!
say hi to Herin's parents rose !!
My hubby will turn 67 and so I'm hoping to chat up the maitre'd and get dinner with the Captain...he's Italian so our name Pittore might help!
could be west
an overnight cruise even!
bet it will mpit I love Carnival you'll have a great time
well, yeah, duh!!
Bike or car Rose?
to answer your other question you could select and copy from my profile and paste it into Word or a simple text
gotcha, lyn. taking the pruple passion vehicle. ( crewman s-pack ute)
I always tell my hubby we could be in a rubber room somewhere and still have fun and enjoy ourselves...I run around from morn til nite trying to do all the fun things...

ta...............
bye Volley
sounds great, mPitt
it's always fun to go with other people there were 6 in our group we all did our own thing and met up for dinner mostly
I'm ready to go again
west how can I sel, copy, paste from your profile there is nothing at top (i.e. Edit) to do that...I tried it but that blonde thing kicked in! LOL
do you have a PC or a Mac?
PC
maybe the PC people can help you out then I don't know how they work
MPitt, can you highlight the recipe and print?
hubby is threatening to get a Mac...his laptop is acting up but so is mine..I need a keyboard at min...no letters left on mine
Hold down Control & C to Copy, and Control and V to Paste
that should do it
I'll try again...brb
MPitt -- click at the beginning of what you want to copy, then go to the end, hold down Shift and click again. It should all be highlighted. Then Ctrl +C to copy, Ctrl + V to paste.
I'm learning a lot from the PC crowd
You can usually buy the keypad and get it replaced MP - I know I need to do it too - probably about $80 including getting it put in
keypad, meant keyboard
could you not redo the letters with a very fine brush and use nail varnish.....just a thought
I've tried magic marker in the past didn't work too well
hi Mills, I had thought about that but decided it would look awful - I have so many letters missing
my newest laptop keyboard is not wearing out so that's good
had a jar candle with molten wax in it that I spilled all over the last one
that one we replaced
I will try that mills...I'm a bit artsy so that will help in the interim..by the way I can't cut and paste or Print screen the highlighted recipe...
can you copy from the chat? I could post it here
Are you in Expert MP?
yes, you can copy from anywhere (almost)
want me to try it Mpit?
but I refuse to go to the PB if I inadvertently put in a word that's in the grid lol
fair enuf, west
becca
MP - If you use a mouse you should be able to highlight the area you want then Right Click on Mouse and select Copy
oops sry
west - go to a crafts store and buy a sheet of clear plastic stick-on letters. They come in all styles and sizes.
I thought so too jilli but my babble doens't have the function bar above it nor do the profiles...is my pc lacking?
Here is my recipe for FABULOUS Thai peanut chicken, in the crock pot: In your crock pot, put 2 cans (each can is about 15 ounces) of Ro-Tel brand chopped tomatoes with chiles, and about 3/4 cup of peanut butter (any kind will do, smooth or chunky, brand-name or not, "natural" or not) Let that warm in the crock pot until the peanut butter melts. While that is happening, take the skin off the chicken. I use 2 breasts and 6 legs. You can use thighs if you want, or use boneless chicken breasts. Make sure all skin is off. Now stir the mixture in the crock pot. Then add 1/2 can (total of about 8 ounces) Coconut Milk or Coconut Milk "Lite". Mix that up. Then put the chicken pieces in. Cover the crock pot and simmer on high about 4-5 hours. You'll know when it's done because the chicken willl be falling off the bones. Serve over rice, and garnish with chopped cilantro. Li'l Monkey's Thai Peanut Chicken
ok lynxx will try that brb
Are you in Expert MP?
good idea broll thanks
if anyone sees Li'l Monkey say thanks from me
MPitt, you don't need the function bar if you use the Ctrl + C and Ctrl + V on your keyboard
I guess that suggestion is for MP. Tired and not following chat very well.
I will West
It's for me too broll I'm always wearing out keyboards
Thankyou for the suggestion Broll. Have you done this, was wondering if the letters wouldn't move with constant use - ?
No, I don't use my computer enough to wear off letters!
I don't have a crock pot and Ro-Tel isn't a brand I know of here :(
lynxxx that worked....the ctrl c & v & P wouldn't work for me...must be aliens in my pc trying to prevent me from cooking up the fab recipe! Anyway I have it now...will make it when we get back! Hey, I was supposed to go to bed an hour ago....gotta go need all the beauty rest I can get...*giggle* *wink*...niters all...Thank you!
Gad the mouse behaved...goodnight MP
jilli you really don't need a crock pot it would do fine in a pot on the stove and just use chopped tomatoes and add a can of green chiles if you like spicy
glad it worked mpit sleep well
I used boneless chicken breasts though
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!
hmmm -- pls keep the recipe in your profile, west -- too tired to copy it now
okay
Well that was short and sweet
hi anike and yay !!
I get boneless chicken breasts all the time and freeze them
YAY anike!!!
congrats Anike
we love our freezer
Hi west and TY
Can I assist with any clues b4 I go?
being a loner and not having long arms I have an upright freezer and find it very handy cuz I make biggish batches and freeze the excess in small helpings
I have 26 to go and will leave them for tomorrow -- bed is calling now -- thanks anyway, anike
no thank you anike almost done
Well I'm off - will go and visit my mum for a bit
jilli that's a great idea my mother does that too
I would too anike but she may not like it if I showed up at 3:00 a.m.
I freeze bread and take out a slice or two at a time so it doesn't go stale
it takes almost no time at all to defrost
all sorts of tricks like that
So....off to bed now -- goodnight all and *poof*
good night jilli sleep well and take it easy when you wake
back in a bit
Taking a break too - see you later West
i'm outta here. nite all, see you at the flip.
good morning everybody
Morning ruby, how was the meal?
I loved it; my husband hated it but at least I made it up the mountain....
lol!
what did you eat?
the Swedish host did the cooking: homemade duck liver pate, wild boar w/mushrooms, fruit marinated in cognac since last summer and a lovely assortment of alcohols. My husband doesn't eat game!
helllloooo
hello ata
back sorry had to go and put some food out for the birds. Sounds delish ruby.
hello
Hi Katie!
my husband puts out sunflower seed 3X/day as we have about a million, mostly drab, birds and the dog sits under the feeder and watches like it's tv
lol I get mesmerised watching them too, this morning a pair of wagtails have turned up - not seen them before in the garden.
Good morning/evening all.
hello haz
Greetings Haz!
fine. say hi to katie and haz and not me *sniff*
Hello! I can relate to the bird feeding, it's like running a day-time restaurant here. One of these days the birds aren'g going to achieve lift-off because they've eaten so much. HELLO ATA!
awe didn't see you dear Ata!!!!
ohhhhh someone is sensitive today!
you know I love you :)
*sniffs*
Have a kleenex balsam, Ata.
(((Ata))) *hands tissues to stop the sniffs*
Haz loves me more. She gave me balsam
*sigh*
I know what you like, you see.
So, are you all blanketed in snow?
not yet ....
yep!!
oh haz, do you see the programme last night about police dogs?
we had close to 2 feet
beautiful
Yes, I did!
weren't they *gorgeous*
I saw Diesel and thought of Hobbit.
Totally snowed in here9 inches and it is still snowing :(
I hoped you did
They were fabulous.
me too :) they really were. amazing dogs.
Oh, poor FM and Katie! The forecasters were right.
Glad I bought my wellies the other day.
"sunrise" this morning -> http://tinyurl.com/yllfkue
Is snow on the way for you, Ata, or will you escape? We haven't had any more but what we had is still lying. Poor husband is having a horrible time trying to get round the countryside. Two vets in the practice have already pranged their cars.
and it's snowing
we only have about 3 inches but really hard to get off the estate, it's snowing again and I have no desire to go on a 125 mile round trip to the office
too right! stay in the warm
it's just started to snow and look like it means it. before this we had a few flakes here and there
Ah now, if it had been wartime, we'd have been told to Dig for Victory and Keep calm and carry on.
hahah
Oh Ata those pics are lovely - was thinking of you this morning and wishing I had your camera to take some pics of the scenes here.
crumble was really funny yesterday snow landed on her and she was really scared
in france in the war, they would have just started practicing their german by the fire....
poor Crumble!!
I so nearly didn't bother taking my camera this morning, and was so glad I did!
thick crumble
am going to see if I have a working camera shortly so I can take some pics.
oooooo cool!
my old Pntax is letting light in and I don't have film for it. Two others are filmless and the digital ones have run out of battery power - Oh to have one working thing!
run out of battery power? recharge the batteries then!!
well put!
Can't find the charger duh!
get a new one!
and before anyone say it - my mobile phone does not take pics it just does phone calls OK!
Somebody else is sensitive this morning..... I'll be the diplomatic, soothing one.
*grin*
gasp - can you get phone that only take calls!
*mentions tesco*
please, could use some soothing
well you try waking up to power cuts and huge amounts of snow!
Breathe in, breathe out, breathe in, breathe out. Repeat after me - OMMMMMMMMMMMM.
you can mention tescos as much as you want but it is unobtainable right now.
OMMMMMMMMMMM
Power cuts? You didn't mention power cuts before.
Lower pitch, FM, lower pitch. Try it again. OMMMMMM.
I did in the emergency email I sent to you and Ata at the crack of dawn.
OMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
ommmmmmmm
Oh! I haven't checked my e-mails yet.
oh that is working
That's much better. The OMMMMMMMMs are coming along nicely.
ooooommmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
OOMMMM is where the eart is
Now, I want you to get into the lotus position. This should be accomplished in one smooth motion. Resume the OMMMMMMMM afterwards.
nor me! great help, aren't we?
LOL ruby
Ata, we'd have been rubbish during the war.
lol Ruby
I thought thge power only went out here!
Are you all in the Lotus position?
Panic waves emanating from Great Britian!
nice to know who your friends are!
hells bells it is snowing up a storm here
I think I have pulled something
We're not panicking, lynxxx. Stiff upper lips, lots of ommmmmming and cups of tea will get us through this.
Oh BTW Haz you have to plan to come over here late Feb or early March.
a *lot* of tea
Although if the upper lip is allowed to get too stiff, dear knows how we'll drink our tea.
I was in TESCO at 7am this morning buying milk supplies!
fm....were r u ?
seems like quivering lips. You lot are all falling apart
What's happening in late Feb/early March?
oops....where
you and me and Ata meeting up :)
you are :)
Where?
here :)
There?
good question. FM's I think
lol
will the snow have gone?
lol......county......
God I hope so lynxxx
hello all -not usually here - they've closed the school for the second day..........
When was this decided?
hi Dippnall
Its going to be a babble get together for the UK
Hello, Dipnall.
yesterday I think
All meeting at your house, FM?
yes Haz would be soooo goood
Hello Dippnall
Goodness!
see you later
You had better start baking now Haz
Bye Ruby
you , me, Ata, possibly cait, lindrick, and who knows who else.
Bye ruby, enjoy the snow.
katie
I am now getting fed up of looking out the window and seeing it is still snowing :(
oh yes!
Katie - can you come?
It'll depend if she can get out of the estate.
or if she's snowed under with work
Or if Crumble will let her go.
I think she is writhing on the ground in agony (she last said she thought she had pulled something - and I don't think it was a fella)
Is she still in the Lotus position?
lol - maybe
not sure you're meant to be able to writhe lotus-like
Oh dear. I forget that not everyone is as lithe and supple and as masterful in yoga as me.
ROFL - yeah right!!!
You can't see it, but my face is all amazement. Do I detect a note of incredulity from FM?
I was just thinking that!
loving the chat but I must get on and do significant stuff - have no idea what that is but is sounds good.
One advantage of being small is that you're that much closer to the ground and therefore more easily able to slip into yoga positions.
fine. go and do something better than spend time with us
ha! it's stopped snowing
Significant stuff? This isn't significant enough for you?
Learning yoga, saying ommmmmmmmm and finding words? What could be better than this?
snowing heavily here
where are you katie?
Tamworth in Staffordshire
it's not really meant to get here till much later, if at all
Sorry just gone back in the chog, the shock of it - I was working! I would love to come :-)
OK I will stay a while.
That's more like it, FM.
well that took a lot of persuading :D
bit south of me - it's lovely and bright here - just lots of snow all over the place!
:)
yay katie!
Jac will want to come too :)
oh yes of course!!!
Great - will be a blast!
I knew we were mising someone!
There are loads of good B&Bs and htel round here.
ace
plus plenty of carpet space in the house :)
You need to keep the carpet space clear for the yoga.
and for Hobbit :P
ooooommmmmmmmmmmm
dogs and cats are welcome :)
Keep the pitch a little lower, FM, otherwise you're doing well.
new bed is due to be delivered in about 10 days - can't wait!
Haz has to bring spangle
*ooommmmmm* is that better Haz?
are you breathing properly?
Yes, that's better. Soon we'll be progressing to AHHHHHHH.
But only when everyone has mastered the OMMMMM and is comfortable to move on.
gosh - not sure I can cope with that!
gosh - not sure I can cope with that!
thats the advanced level
People sometimes do have these crises of confidence. You'll overcome it, FM, just remember your breathing.
I think you were put off your stroke by the thought of your new bed.
Is it a four-poster?
either she can't remember or she's not telling
Don't just breathe out, FM, remember to keep breathing in. You're looking a wee bit red.
No - had a 4 poster before ,this is just a wonderful iron beadstead . Sorry have jsut had a huge sneezing fit!
That's the Ommmmmmmmmm clearing out the system. It's wonderful for sinuses.
is that your sincere font?
All my fonts are sincere!
*snot*
See? Those sinuses are clearing wonderfully but we don't need all the details, FM.
LOL!!!
I so hope that was meant to be snort
too much detail of that sort of thing earlier today
Some things are best left unsaid.
Did someone else have sinus problems? Did yoga and heavy breathing cure them as well?
they were talking about neti pots again
*blushes* sorry and yes lynnx and all that was supposed to be snort.
I'm kind of scared to enquire further about neti pots.
saline ... nose ...
they scare me
enough, enough!
dc uses his twice a day!
ewwww
I've just googled.
Now I'm goggling.
now I'm gagging
Okay, moving the conversation swiftly past neti pots and sinuses - how's Stew, lynxxx?
power is going a bit again so TTFN and Happy Babbling.
*hugs hugs fm*
Bye FM - see you later! Put a flag on top of your car so youcan find it again!
he's fine - a bit mopy - he didn't get to go in "the car" today
bye FM - have a good day
I saw a Stew while walking the mutt this morning. They are sooo beuatiful and graceful
Poor Stew, denied his treat.
where did Spangle sleep last night?
In the kennel.
can borrow your 'smug' for a bit Ata
oo!
you may :)
I know, but it wasn't quite as cold last night as before.
(Waiting with anticipation of lynxxx's smug announcement)
but it's good to know that she will settle in the kitchen, if the night really is *that* cold
Yes, it's always a Plan B.
it's meant to reach -20 over here at some point this week
my smug was my beautiful and graceful hound
if it does, I'm kidnapping next door neighbour's cat, cos that's way too cold for Freddie to have to sleep outside
beautiful and graceful until he has a mad spell :)
Oh! Of course you can be smug about how beautiful Stew is.
Does Freddie have no shelter at all?
and then they turn into 95% uncoordinated legs
good timing, he's just started this minute. BBL
not really if his owner turfs him outside. there's no way he can get back indoors. he has a little hollow he's made in the hedge, and if one of the garages is open, he'll sneak inside there
See you later, lynxxx.
I try and leave my porch door open for him, even though he doesn't really like coming in - he's very definitely an outdoor cat
Poor Freddie. I think you'd be right to borrow him if only to let you sleep happily knowing that he's not freezing to death.
exactly!!
Morning babblers can anyone clue the in5 please ;o)
I mean, he's got a huge amount of fur, and there are a lot of non-snowy places round here that he could curl up into. But there's a point where really he needs access to warmth
if I could, I would!
in5/16 - the conversation in***iably comes round to pets.
oh, ok. ah, well done, Haz, I was just trying to think of something!
pets or bottoms
or sinuses
And sometimes both combined!
Thanks Haz great clue ...
You're welcome, Norma.
indeed!
Right, I'm going to head off and get some things done. I'll check in later. Bye for now!
bye dear!
Oh, and if anybody is still in the Lotus position and saying Ommmmmmmmm, you can stop now. The neighbours might talk.
Bye!
Hi all. I'm not in the lotus position, because I can't Babble if I do that.
Did I kill the chog?
*Steals all chocolate out of PB while no-one else is here.
beavor
fine way to announce yourself Alex
BEAVOOOOR

brrrr Good Morning. snowy here... country has come to a stand still !!!
I'm still waiting for the snow ...
huh!
Do you really have no snow yet, Ata?
only old snow
It had even drifted into the covered chicken run today. Had to rake it over for them.
And how are you today?
poor chickens!
lol. They stayed sulking in their house.
I bet they did :)
This seems a slightly evil grid.
it's ok. I have 3 left
Oh, well, I have 50 left :-( but lots of disruption.
What two letters does the 9 start with?
ca9/60
ty
It's ~snowing~ again :)
NB--I was just wondering where you've been
hi NB

it`s ok found it...... fireworks
hello
Hi herin.
How are you?
Ok, snowed in.
in 5/16 any clues please
brrr
in + ***iety is the spice of life
Thanks
Why do they make movies and clearly screw it up Geographically
Money? stupidity?
The place is set in London but its clearly Melbourne Australia (a Melbourne Tram went past and there is an Aussie Post box)
Hello everyone, and I've made the same observation about movies, herin
Also, in the U.S., they seem to always film around L.A. (I can tell by their unique vegetation) when the plot is set elsewhere
lol, herin! Reminds of TV adaptation of the Thorn Birds, which I didn't see. An Oz friend of mine did, and was screaming blue murder that it was so obviously filmed in US and not Oz.
See Brookie a tree or plant is something a native would see. But this is clearly Aus
Also American film makers in particular seem to be a bit free with historical facts.
That is true!
What's the particular film set in London, herin?
Sally your friend is right about Thorn Birsds
I am watching Nightmares and dreamscrapes and yes it is set in London
She was very scathing.
London doesn't have trams
There are some in Croydon, a south London suburb.
I know that Queen of the Damned was filmed in Australia but it was done well enough to be non geographical
Sally do your trams have Yarra Trams on them? cause these did and there was the town hall in Melb
lol herin, not usually! Very careless film-making.
... and Fireworks!
I see it is a Stephen King story. He is American isn't he?
It is Stephen King. and another thing I am fairly sure London central doesn't have metal bins
Yah Merk
Wouldn't have thought it was cheaper for them to film in Melbourne than in London.
ty ... see you tomorrow perhaps
They must be stupid to think the audience wouldn't know the difference.
You've suddenly changed your flag, Merk.
Melbourne has a good film history
Yes, I forgot to change it when I arrived and just got around to it now.
I'm still jet lagged. I struggled to stay awake to finish this before I go to an early bed.
O merk
I'll eventually catch up on my sleep, but it's always a struggle for me at first.
Merk you teaching again?
Sorry to interrupt the convo, but may I have a clue for the ca9?
Something you drive in, + negative word, plus US spelling of not loose
Sort of
Thanks sally, got it!
Not very exact clue!
I was so trying to make carnvore for that one.
Thank you
Sally watching this is worse for me as I have walked down most places in the centre of Melbourne
morning Babblers & thx for the clue Sally - don't usually start my games with a 9 pointer
good morning... another small grid... just great... :-(
morning oodle
Hi bo and Oddle
This grid is bitey
Glad you got the clue, bojazz. Sneaky grid herin
sneaky, BAD grid we got here...
this gonna be bad - am seeing things that ain't there
sneaky grid - that wasn't a clue, was it? lol
Well I am enjoying reruns of being human whilst waiting for boi to return from friends
ugh...down to 4 = all a words
go nonnie!
hi red and thanks :o)
2 to go...
clue for the at words, please?
got the 5/14 :o)
one is to At 5 for your sins
hi red... just the person to ask..
one sounds like a lawyer
aha...it was a fish--fireworks!
where do orange trees grow in florida?
Hey.
Hi Red Yah nonnie
hi nonnie
thanks herin!
hello oodle
Beating the clock to get to work. Have a great day all and see you next babble time.
bbye nonnie
Mostly the central area, a little north of me too, Lake, Marion, sumpter Co, a little in Orange co, and polk co...
herin--re-phrase clue for the lawyer? don't quite see it--almost
got it!
ok ty... looking up the temps
Ok
but the basic area is orlando?
oodle they are frozen...suns up and still 28.
excuse my poor clues. Oodle you running away to florida?
oh my
Orlando is a little south west of most of the fruit growing..
err South East, sorry.
no trying to figure out about the crops but they are frozen... :-(
hi oodle
salut ruby
eh excuse me for asking but why?
this grid is very hard for me
Citra, Fl is one of the Oldest Orange growing areas. since the early 1800's
why what lady
why do you want to know about Oranges?
clue for the top a in the middle pls?
evidently they are setting record low temps for florida. lived there for many years, saw snow once in Miami on Christmas day
evidently they are setting record low temps for florida. lived there for many years, saw snow once in Miami on Christmas day
I think its someone who performs on stage.
i want to know if there is going to be even a crop and why not
i had one lady from the sates ask me once if we really grew christmas trees up here lol
Do you like oranges? They are the bane of evil in this house
states
Well, they have been harvesting oranges since October/November so there has been a crop, btu now I think a lot will be sold for juicing.
i love all citrus
Himself is allergic to citrus thus not in this house. I love them
Crossy--the first non-word i saw this morning was one i knew would make you crazy!
bacon?
i can see this little grid is full of un-words
You bet, bacon
I had bacon and Icecream on holidays I was given the oddest look
evidently for juicing... they can do anything else with them but if that is to ensure them of not losing there present crop then that is good... I thought it was a short growing season but it goes from october to what month red please
yes,i see that my beloved bacon is but a phantom today
*can't
dont let them get you down herin, they are just jealous of your bacon awareness:0
*cries for cross*
omg bacon and ice cream ... salt and sweet ... interesting
The waitress came out and and asked if i wanted cream or ice cream on my pancakes and as i had a side of bacon ice cream it was.
Oddle the bacon has to be fresh and it works well with ice cream and maple syrup (the real deal not the fauz stuff)
oh that's right I fergit about maple syrup but I cannot do it... it is against my religion to... :D
bacon gum, bacon iced cream.bacon smoothies, bacon and egg pies, cheese with bacon infused in it,bacon weaves, bacon explosion, bacon and onion sammies, bacon vodka..a whole world to explore herin!!
omg OODle you are the in the land of drool maple syrup
clue for the ro 5/10 pls?
we have some of the best maple syrup here in quebec, lady
Bacon sarnies are teh best
it costs us about $10 to get the proper stuff from canada
my bacon and oodles maple syrup....magic;))
yes we are... and how much do you pay for REAL maple syrup there
I gotta admit I don't know, but the shippers start shipping in October, this is the peak time, but these things do happen. Some bigger growers will have protected the crops, fruit will just cost more.
Sounds like the Indian bread Jay
ok herin woul dyou let me ask my questions please ... stop answering them before I ask them HEE HEE HEE HEE too funny
We tend to get a lot of stuff from the USA food store.
the top grade amber syrup is expensive anywhere.14 dollars a litre is average
ok 10$ for how much
i only know the p and the n indian breads
We pay $10 -12 for Camp Maple syrup 250gram
9 here cross
Extend the Ro 4
OUCH... that is expensive lady
It is when it doesn't last long with this house
but cross I am in maple syrup country
do you get the cans there cross?
I personally feel that the flavoured syrup should be banned. Its not real
sorry cross ... you are right...
I keep on thinking a litre is a pint and it is a kilo in weight
250 mil is a quart of a litre
thinking of those little bottles of water are litres and they are 500 ml
That is not right a litre is 1000mil or 30 ounce
opps I think that is 32 ounces
and I got 375 for cheap and it was on sale ... I should have stocked up on it because I love it so much
lol get your metric all worked out?
yes but I am used to cups pints quarts and gallons
been here for six years and stillhave problems with the metric
we tap the trees here also oodles, but i will conced the the quebec stuff is superior
Can you have the sap like that or does it have to be a processed?
has to be processed
Ok.
40 - 1 ratio herin
as i reall the ratio is 40 pails of raw sap to 1 u.s galln of syrup
Yep I was right. 1 litre is 33 Ounces
damn typos
AND there MUST be freezing at night and defrost during the day for it to produce the sap
indeed
well, its just freezing now!
Still would like to know who decided that eating sap from a tree would be so tasty
this global warming is NOT kind to the US crop
clue for the ra 6/18--the first one?
lol red minus 14 here
the canadian natives herin
yes, that soooo beyond freezing!
our first nations people started the trend long ago herin
Ok i complain at 3C
we are currently -3...
we complain when the tires on the car freeze and you get a flat spot on the bottom till they warm up lol
that begins to happen at -45 or better
lol
omg cross... think that is because you are dry there as opposed to our humidididity
ohhhh
bugger that
never could tolerate it!
lol remember red,at that temp you breathe in thru the nose and out through the mouth or you frost your lungs
and that is not pleasant
Can we focus here for a moment? If I had the first ra 6/18 i can FW and leave you in peace!
i tried to focus once but i..wheeee! a butterfly!!....
i'm not sure anyone has it Jay.
lol, crossy!
OH OH OH

bbl
hi soodle... bbl nap time
Is it AC + Jackie O's husband?
hey soodles! hey oodles! hello everyone
Hey Stid :)
down to 30 (was at 40 when I said hello). this seems an easy grid.
anyway, it's time for me to get going. school starts in two hours and it's hard to find parking close to the building... even the handicapped spots are full these days. *sad mama look* they keep adding students, cutting staff and services.
how are you doing soodles, before I head out? are you getting hit with all that snow and cold still?
Oh My, Stid - its minus 8 here!! The whole country has ground to a halt! Global warming my a**!!!!
oh dear, soodles. I am so sorry.
it is warmer than normal here. though last month it was considerably colder than normal. Nothing seems predictable about seasons or weather these days.
Whats the weather like where u are. Stid?
I know!! Still - its lovely to sit indoors and look out at it!
normally, it's rarely much below freezing even in the winter because we are so close to the water. The last few years we have had some rather persistent snow (I put up lots of photos last year of the ongoing snows, still on my website somewhere).
this year, we had a real cold snap down below zero for more than a week (didn't get above zero that is). Unfortunately, it didn't snow, so I suspect some of my tubers and bulbs didn't make it because there was no insulation for them.
Like I say - Global warming, my a**!!
I would not mind so much if it snowed... at least then we would have an excuse to stay home and hang out.
global warming means that weather extremes of all kinds become more common, so this snow doesn't mean there is no such thing
complete misunderstanding of global warming
yes van
hello Van and kje --- soodles and I know that. but from our perspectives, right now, it's hardly warmer.
I know, kje! But, its just the way the phrase has been bandied about - it is quite misleading!
last summer we had record high temperatures in July and August. So we are seeing a yearly increase in average (mean) temperatures, and more extreme temps and weather at both ends.
no, it is what it is... overall average temps are higher resulting in changes in things such as the ice caps which then create other climate changes in more temperate zones
(Personally I am looking forward to beachfront property
LOL ru - nah - you guys are gonna fall off teh continent and finally disappear
Hi RuRu!
gm everyone
it's wreaking havoc on our snowpack, which makes me nervous about water supply over the next few decades. My parents' home water supply is fed by glacial aquifer from hundreds of miles away.
hey ruru!
I don't use hairspray.. I am doing my part
but I will stand here and wave goodbye as any good pal would do ; )
our home is ground water-fed, which is likely to be depleted if many more homes are put in locally (we all have private wells)
(actually most of the town of Pacifica IS falling into the ocean)
ruru, do you even have hair to spray? not much sacrifice there... LOL
in 5/16 help please? thanks--can't seem to see it
(looks at head... has hair)
oh well... I gotta go. *sigh* see you-all later!
wow! go stidmama! that sounds like something I would ask! LOL

how does one 'gently' pour boiling water over the mixture? Boiling water is not gentle.
i'm going to try to make my 1st british-style pudding tonight.
maybe slowly and mix whilst pouring?
Talking softly makes my boiling water gentle.
Use soft water ..
LOL i was guessing pouring slowly to not much disturb what was already in the pan. Thanks, yall :)
tor, our water is very much not soft. Yay for urban water. :/
LOL lawyer-1
Our water will chip your teeth ..
considering the distance it travels, that's not surprisng

Seain, lemme know how that pudding turns out... It looked yummy
Hi Jmc and Nrkii
will do nrk. i'm nervous about it, as i've never made, or knowingly ea5 such pudding
thanks, yall :)
oh, wait. i made a corn pudding once. so i have. just not a sweet one.
there is a place in NYCity that makes the best chocolate pudding I've ever had
but it's more like a traditional american pudding -- they sell it in little glass jars like you'd see jam in
and it's fabulous
wish I could get that recipe
was it recently on the Food Channel Nrkii?
where is that, nrk?
what is the name of the place?
in chelsea market... maybe (maybe!) at a place called SaraBeth's, but that might be wrong
I know there's a place called SaraBeth's there, but can't remember if that's the place with the pudding
it's a coffee shop, they also sell PB&J sandwiches, i remember that
I used to have to go into NY for meetings in Chelsea Market once a month, and every trip in I'd buy 2 jars of pudding
hm. i'll seek it out next i'm up there, sounds worthwhile
COOL
Hi all...just checking to see if my pic uploaded
I just googled chelsea market and chocolate pudding and it IS Sarabeths
looks like a white terrier, sea
is that your puppy SeaSpray?
coool, thx, nrk :)

hi, jbv
never been there, welki, sorry
jes, we lived in Kimberley BC several years ago but hubby pllayed on the men's local soccer team Kimberley Canadians, and I remember going to a game in Spokane
kimberley is such a nice little town ... when we were at wasa lake last summer, we went to their fly fishing shop
probably drove right past me.
the "Canadians" was the name of a local pub! actually very few Canadians on the team!
pssst, jes? don't go there.

Clothes are in dryer, pasta is in boiling water.

lickety has helped me get down to 17 left
I should just go to the list now--not an easy grid like the last few.
I am already stuck on the ac words
Got one!
Hi Scrab and jes. Just getting on and am down to a mere 86 left. Hope you are well.
i had a hard time finding the ac5 that is a kind of mite
Hi stidgmere...pace yourself
hi stidge. it's a good start ;)
Yes, I like to begin with the first word I get and build on it.
OK, ac's are done
start at the very beginning, and when you reach the end, stop.
*writing down Jess's advice*
credit it to the mad hatter ;)
Yes, I think I know what the caterpillar was smoking. I shall stop at the end, also.
does some one remember the brand of gluten free pizza that was mentioned to me the other day... I even forget the person who told me.
hmm. your first word didn't happen to be the ca9, did it?
hego maybe?
Hm, ca9--is it something to do with being a meat-eater? I cannot get the ending. hi Oodle
no, my first word was one who loves the stage. Now looking at the ca words.
dunno. trying all the ways i can think to end that meat eater, and none are working
Imagine a meat eater mineral.
A brand of gluten-free food OUGHT to be called "Scared Out of My Wheat."
TY, Vicuna
ca9 = auto+negation+ not loose
Hello, all. You're welcome, Scrabs,
think it began with an 'A' but thank you anyway Vicuna
whoo! thanks, oodles
i was way off of that
yw
"vicuna" was a clue in a recent crossword puzzle that I worked on and I thought of you, Vi!
If you know what day it was, you can go to the chat log from the day and search on "gluten" and find out in short order.
Ah, how lovely, Scrabbler! =D

Almost anything is good with olive oil.
well, I am more than double that, scrab - LOL
It is too close to bedtime to have tomato sauce-----> GERD, yuck
yes, gerd... have had that a time or 2 - isn't aging fun!
I have it a lot, depending on what I eat---I pop ranitidine when needed
thankfully it is not common here... just occasional if I overdo it
Aloha fellow BABs. I am just back from a 5 hour whale watching/snorkelling trip along the coast of southern Kauai. A perfect day. A pod of aggressive males tagged alongside the craft for 45 minutes each trying to out do the others!
So cool, joan!
And I shoveled snow in 24 F
I have been thinking about all the folks in the cold hinterlands. Many the winter pass quickly.
Aloha joan we are sitting here thinking about grey skies and turning on the lights. No whales around here today, just ducks.
I hope we aren't going to be too rudely shocked by the
drifts

when we return home. You can tell I seldom chat!
The closest we come to whales is occasional fish slap.
Hi Dan. I saw 3 newborns in the office today--thinking of you
Hi Dan, hope your evening goes well.
The dolphins were preforming too. We have known the skipper for more than 20 years and even he was amazed
Sad news tonight. We lost our little Chihuahua today. She was born with a hole in her heart and wasn't expected to live over 6 mos. to a year, but she lasted 6 years.
neat Scrabbs! We had our fetal echo today. My new favorite word is "normal" - can't hear it enough

Why a fetal echo, Dan?
Thanks guys, even though I still have 6 big Deerhounds, she still took a big piece of my heart with her. She is at the Rainbow Bridge with all my other lost babies now.
mrs2bit is insulin resistant - well controlled (A1Cs have been good through 21 weeks), but gestational diabetes is expected
can anyi help with ca9 please?
OK, Dan, then normal = great news

Hello everyone. I have 3 words left and it's gone 1am here so I'm going to have to ask for clues :)
Rump, you will be sad for a while then it will get easier
Hi Van
Hi Van, some of ask much sooner than that.
Go for it Van
I wonder if anyone could help me with ca5/16, or5/10 and ov5/16?
or5= to give a speech, ov5 = swap R for V
It is a variant of a person who works in a carnival.
ca5/16 like ca6/27 without the vowel
thank you scrabbler!!
ca5/15= high tile at end
That is the ca5
Now I'm slow at interpreting clues so I'll still be a minute working them out, but thank you very much everyone

Hey LBD! how's you?
stidkid got his hair cut, since the last time i saw a pic of him!
i'm doing well, stid. how's the tummy?
my computer is booting up SOOOOOO slowly
LOL yes, that was last summer, LBD. it's grown out a bit since then.
tummy is better, still a bit of a wimp at times, but I am eating real food again.
how was your visit with the grands, LBD? I never did hear!
so glad to hear you're feeling weller!
Stid, that's a great pic!
visit with the grands was amazing. The baby is just too adorable! the loudest noise she made sounded more like humming
yep, me too! I have to get up early (5:30) tomorrow to go do my practicum in a nearby town. VERY excited, and very nervous.
thanks Nancy Boy! how are you doing? recovered from your revels?
Grandson is a four year old terror! but he loves his grampa and loves shoveling snow!
NANCYBOY!!!
Just about Stid :) though it feels (and sounds!) like if you live where I live, every night is NYE...
so glad you had a good time with the little ones. I was looking at a few pics of my boys with Mother when they were little. Such a precious, wondrous time in a child's life.
Ibd!! I haven't seen you on here in aaaages :D
4 year olds are GOOD helpers!
Why is it that kid's loose interest in shoveling snow just when they are old enough to get good at it?
Been busy with the grandkids and family, NB. had to do the grid at o'dark early before everyone was up and making noise!
ugh...well I have just been enjoying all this GREAT snow...it's incredible!
Grandson didn't want to use the "little boy" shovel. he used a regulation shovel and did a great job on the driveway!
LOL wht! beats me, but the same happened with dusting, sweeping and vacuuming.
he's definitely an outside boy. no help in the house except to make a mess with his daddy and grampa
For what it's worth, they seem to come back around somewhere around 20.
so one year left before I'm helpful, wht? ;)
I remember when my son turned into a human being. He was around 18. real amazing turn around.
or one year before you're useful, NB? *ducks withering glare*
LOL Ibd!
you can't duck it Stid, it's like a snowball, no matter where you are it hits you riiiight in the face and also somehow trickles down your back ;)
Something like that, NB. But I am working with a sample size of 2.
i love the comic strip Zits. that was so much my kid! obtuse to the world.
LOL *offers conciliatory choclits*
but you're right, I'm not a useful person, I'm an...ornamental person *preens*
NB, your usefulness here is pure entertainment!
Jill reminded me of Zits when I was struggling with parenting teens a few years back... it helped me regain perspectivce.
Well I try Ibd ;)
evening all
It really does bring "reality" to a new level.

Hi Pini.

hey pini. oh gee. florida is seeing temps below freezing. this is horrible.
may I get a clue for the 2 lower A's in the 3rd column? (for NBT)
hey stid ;)
Don't be so sure, NB. You never know what might happen.
I really think parents should be able to trade out their teenagers for someone elses teenagers. For some reason someone elses kids aren't so bad to reason with

Well Wht, I can be at least 98% sure about the no kids thing, as I'm at least 99% sure about the no marriage thing, and I'm definitely 100% sure about the no girls thing...;)
it is worrisome how the south is getting pelted with this cold front.

adoption, NB?
You still don't know. Here in Massachusetts there are plenty of married couples with children and no girls.
I'd adopt NB any day, LBD!

hi, folks ... just how much useful stuff can one welki do when tiny grids are all done?
he's just old enough now to be interesting.... (like Indiana Jone's father said)
hey welki!
Hi Welki! you can come over here and we can clean my house! lol
have that one, lbd ;)
LOL. Leo and I would be hopeless. We wouldn't know which way the head went on ;)
My brothers have dogs and cats instead of children, NB. Works for them!
Hi welki, weren't you complaining about the large grids just a few days ago?

Works for me, Stid! To prove it Lola is snoozing on my lap :)
i mean ... nevah! i love the big grids!
that's the broadway play award, Pini.
<--- never going to finish! But I'm OK with that!
NB, the biggest challenge in parenting is not which way the head goes on, but resisting the impulse to remove it. :^)
oh, thx lbd!
*admires Lola* when are you going to post a pic of her?
Git 'r dun, Pini! it's only 87 words!
LOL Wht!!
lol wht! amen to that!
but I have 58 more to find! :(

how do I interpret the X/Y boxes in Tile Stats?
* beaming * thx wht ;)
The number of words starting with that letter and the number that you have found.
the first number is how many you've found of the second number which is how many words in the grid that start with that letter
ah, thanks
When someone says NBT in the chog it means that they have no un-greyed stat box with a 0 on the left.
NBS means you have found at least one word of each length available (under Word Stats)

ah, found the "view the entire chat log" thing...looks like it's not particularly hectic
gremlinn there is an etiquette at the change that says everyone searches like crazy for the first hour and just posts any long ones they find, like di7.
you'll meet the real diehards at that hour, grem
You can begin to help each other with clues after the first hour but if it is a big grid, you may not have much luck.
LOL lbd, I am not a diehard, just in the right time zone. It happens at 10:00 pm here so I sometimes play for a while before bed
Heyas kids ..
Hey torgone
Donc Enomis? Tu es parfaitement bilingue? moi je me débrouille très bien en français mais je ne suis pas 'parfaitement' bilingue.

pretty good today, thanks. getting a new 'do tomorrow, and then working --> rather chuffed about both!
I am too tired to wait for the flip... I had a hard time staying awake for new years let alone waiting for 01h00 for the flip....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

The only odd word in today's grid was the ca9 - and we'll all make sure to gey tid of that before anyone can manufacture uranium from it, won't we?
*get rid of that. I should perhaps get rid of this almost dead keyboard later, I have 2 more waiting in the wings.
I got fireworks...still very new for me!
congrats april
Well done apr. *~*~*~*~
TY...I'm off to bed, unless I can offer anyone any help!
jac would you like to clue the ca9?
Dormez bien, Avrilx
the clue has been for ca/9: auto + opposite of yes + opposite of loose
berri - ca9 = ca* (what you drive to work in) +negative + slange word for breast + vowel.
Bloody keyboard! I hope you got that clue, Berri.
thanks jac
driving thing PLUS negative PLUS slang word for fosom + vowel.
fosom? Thi keyboard is definitely going in the bin later.
y/w berri.
I suppose this keyboard's doe it's time. It's been taken to bits at least 8 times and cleanrf up.
AArgh, I did a srurious it's there.
Or even a spurious its.
Yes, this keyboard IS dead; it's even harder to type on than the old sit up and beg manual keyboards I originally learned to touch type back in the late 60s.
And, in those days, using carbon paper to make copies, if you made a mistake and you weren't ptoficient with a typewriter eraser (I was!) then you had to type th whole thing again.
*proficient
z
z - sounds like a plan at 5.03 am.
I was lucky! Not only did I have a seasoned typist to teach me (my Mum) but also an artist's eye to get back to exactly the right place on the paper (my Dad's gift to me).
Back in th 70s, when I was a typing pool boss, many of my typists blessed me for that skill. LOL.
Any clues needed before I erase, Tippex or Snopake the Babble site out of sight?
sorry dog typing
Sudoku - yuor dog was right. Time to zzzz.
the 1st ac 5 please
yes it is
ac5 is a type of mite. a + what yur drive to work in + personal pronoun.
thanks jac
And that'sme over and out for the next 8-10 hours. Need more slep and have stuff to do. Happy Babbling all.
can anyone clue the final ca6?
ca6/21??
see you Jac
yes please
it is a customs document allowing a car to be driven across international bordors - so, someting you drive + something you wear to hold your hair in place
i have that one, thanks bojazz
my last ca 6/21 is opposite of doggie
i also have the orange one, its the other ca 6

any clues for ea5 please?
ea5 -- consumed
hi all -- waiting for the flip
am new, could someone explain the tile/word stats? thanks
word stats: X/Y means you've found X words out of Y total of that length
the tiles tell you how many words start with the letter in the tile.
tile stats: each spot matches up to one letter of the grid: X/Y means you've found X words that start with that letter out of Y total

Well, grmlinn, welcome, and have fun!

kje, I guess they're indigenous to Japan
very cool though
I've heard of a turnip;-)
there's a warning in the wikipedia site about the Japanese parsley and toxicity in the other members of that family
turnip, daikon, parsley, chick weed yes
thanks jillibus
haha, robbie
shepherds purse, cudweed, nipplewort - no
but you know, there MUST be a story behind nipplewort
what a name! it sounds uncomfortable
and here it is...
For 350 years it has been going under the book name Nipplewort, coined by John Parkinson: "Camerarius [a Nuremberg physician and botanist] saith that in Prussia they call it Papillaris, because it is good to heale the ulcers of the nipples of womens breasts, and thereupon I have intituled it Nipplewort in English." Theatrum Botanicum; or an Herball of Large Extent, 1640, page 811.

weird stuff, jilli
thx kje - fireworks!
wtg davurs
wiki says this...The English name 'Nipplewort' derives from its closed flower buds, which resemble nipples. Because of its resemblance to nipples, under the doctrine of signatures it was once used as treatment for breast ulcers
woohoo dav!
doctrine of signatures - very interesting
YAY dav!!!
The doctrine of signatures is a philosophy shared by herbalists from the time of Dioscurides and Galen that is still reflected in the common names of some plants whose coincidental shapes and colors reminded the gatherers of such simples of the parts of the body where they could do good: liverwort; snakeroot, an antidote for snake venom; lungwort; bloodroot; toothwort; wormwood, to expel intestinal parasites; and the like.
and that is our botany lesson for the evening
that in5 word seemed to stump the most people
