our governor overturned a recent order by the attorney general today, allowing the commonwealth's universities to maintain anti-discrimination clauses protecting based on sexual orientation, much to the pleased surprise of many of us.
(about time)
I hope for the day that all couples can get married and recognized by the government
the R gov and R attorney gen'l were caught by surprise by the commonwealth-wide protests
dc, rachel M was talking about that, and because it was a"directive" instead of an order, it has no validity in law, so it's a hollow ploy
Well, we can now marry in DC, and MD will recognize it. Not so here in VA
indeed, and the gov't here is unitary, and the unis have been allowed to have the policies for decades, so the AG was blowing smoke out his ass, basically. caused a huge political uproar nonetheless
that's a handy trick..he should do Camel commercials
and the AG is from this part of the state, and should know better.
LOL ruru :D

thanks, adhd. i like that yours is a rare color
I think I have to get HBO -- Bill Maher was just on MSNBC
(this gives a whole new meaning to cigarette BUTTs too)
my first one was a 1970 (red). i posted all my VWs in my profile, when the icon was the color green.
hehehe :)
oh, why's that, jilli?
I had a 1970 VW squareback
because I want to be able to see Maher and some of the other good stuff
ah, gotcha. :)
coolio, ruru
squareback? u mean the hatchback?
kje wants a ghia
no, squareback, VW made no hatchbacks back then
no.. sqaureback
there was a gia in yesterday's grid ;)
ghias were cute
*ghia
the wagon?
it was a stationwagon
is that what you call the squareback? i thought i'd owned all of them
reg beetle, hatchback, wagon, bus, ghia
I slept in one all the time while goign to college
yep, that was the name for the station wagon
cheaper than the dorm was it, ruru?
I liked that I could do the work on it myself... new gas tank, exhaust system, tuneups, etc
no.. I worked graveyard and had to catch a nap before classes early in the morning
i slept in the bus on a road trip, but just for one night lol

it was designed to g that speed in 2nd, happily.
you couldn't tell by the whining engine that you were ina low gear?
meant for passing, but it survived
meant fort passing, not for ten miles tho
all VW's whined
2nd and 4th sound the same at the speed i learned, and you could barely hear the engine for the wind with the windows open

I'm totally overwhelmed at this point, so much to do...but have to wait on other things to happen to get much done...
much reno needed on the building?
I'm going to say farewell - swim time
happy splashing, anike
njoy, anike
We're going to do minimal reno...although I'm really tempted to do more...
There's a cinderblock outbuilding to tear down, and a metal addition that's an eyesore...
think hard about needs, and how adaptable to future reno it will be once occupied.
could the blocks be recycled to replace the metal addition ?
But I'm not going to try to recover the original tin ceiling...sigh!
pity, that. too degraded?
could parts of it be preserved?
Oh, not likely...ugly concrete blocks...
ah, brick building?
Afraid it is too degraded...
nbt at last
Yes, it's brick...hope to sandblast it back to the original red color...
go, go jilli!
wd, jilli!
beware what sandblasting can do to old mortar - may need to repoint
well, I've been watching TV and the chat too, lol!
True enough...
big enterprise, jellen -- but fun planning, I bet
oh, in which case, you're doing very well in the grid, jilli
and, if unfired brick, my need to repaint, even if in a brick color
I'm trying very hard to keep it from getting too big, jilli...made that mistake when I opened my bookstore years ago...
good that you've had that experience
yes, that will help a lot this time
I agree...nothing like failure as an education!
It wasn't a total failure, I guess...it's still in business under my sister-in-law's guidance...
can i get a clue for the co7 please
Well! That's great! Isn't it?
It is good...
Hi, shorty...can't give you a clue...
why:(
don't have it, shorty
Haven't a clue :-)
oh ok LOL
Call me clueless!
ok....clueless Jellen :)
hi shorty -- was just checking your profile and I wonder where faerie went
I know i guess she's real busy with her mom she has e-mailed me between work and her mom she is very busy

how great!
I know I cant wait!

Go, jilli!
i'm 2/3 and ready to sleep. happy babbling, yall!
I think I will, jellen -- go...to bed!

hello, ruby
hello BR, I've just jumped in, tryihg to type fast enough to warm my icy fingers!
raja
how did your fingers get icy?
sorry about that word. the outside door was open all night because the dog didn't come in 'til 2AM
even with both fireplaces burning, it is still frigid in the whole house
rajah
sorry, still sleepy
no more, although I could use some hot chocolate in the PBm, that's for sure
how many words today??
only 98, diann
Hello diann, 98.
Good morning/evening all.
hello haz
cooth
Hello, ruby.
that was not very cooth of me
alit
It's better than being called uncouth....
bad, cold fingers and icky computer this AM
how are you, haz, and is it cold there?
I'm well, thanks, and yes, it's cold. We're getting temperatures below zero at night, but it warms up pretty well during the day when the sun shines.
sunshine here is still pretty weak, not doing much to warm the house
No, I wouldn't be depending on it to warm the house, that's for sure. But it makes for pleasant walks.
Unfortunately, it costs a lot more to keep houses warm! I've just had the oil tank filled and the price has jumped since before Christmas when it was last filled.
we never thought about heating when we bought the house, because American houses generally have central (gas) heating. So I blithely removed all of the really ugly electric radiators when we remodelled and thought that the in-floor system would be enough.
You can live with ugly if ugly is warm...
I wasn't even close to adequate, and then it got a short and had to be disconnected. We bought new radiators and enclosed both fireplaces, but it is still a VERY cold house
who knew?
Hello all
I was adequate {/], the in-floor heating wasn\t
hi lynxx
Did you not have French tradesmen shaking their heads and intaking breath sharply when you asked them to take out the radiators?
Hello, lynxxx.
we were working from Miami, and nobody ever disagreed with us about anything
Yay - got an 8 even if it isn't known s that in Australia
Oh dear! When you come to write your book on how to remodel French houses, you must put in a chapter on the perils of long distance renovations.
my and Peter Mayle! lol
Exactly! Maybe you'd make enough from the book to have the house heated properly.
That was brave Ruby. How many times did you visit during the renovation?
it's a very pretty house, especially its location, but was very poorly constructed 20 - some years ago
3 times a year
Hi all, morning chilly ruby.
'scuse me, I suddenly have a bouncing dog
Hello, Sally.
we took out walls, added a fireplace, added bathrooms (if you can imagine, they had 4 tiny bedrooms upstairs with one WC and "bathrooms"
hello sally
We don't have gas here because we are too far out, and oil is horrendously expensive at the moment, but we do have under-floor heating which we had installed when we had the house built, which is lovely.
However, the best thing we ever did was change the open log fire to a wood burner. Very efficient and makes the whole house really cosy - and it has reduced our oil bills! We have plenty of wood on our land.
we made it into one bedroom, dressing room and study upstairs, a lovely guestroom and bath on the garden level (we're built into a hillside) and took out the wall between the [tiny] kitchen and the [tiny] dining room and made an American-style kitchen/breakfast room
Sounds nice ruby. Do you have photos?
we put in-floor heat in the guestroom and my studion, but the original system was useless
yes, I'll send them to you by e-mail, if you like
Yes please. Do you want to see photos of our house build? We have a web site.
although the interior design is very nice and makes the house seem older and traditional, I was more interested in the garden in the end
Yes, I would love to see that, Sally!
But pictures won't give any impression of the cold. If you feature in the pictures, ruby, you need to give yourself a cold red nose and icicles hanging from the roof.
we even uncovered beams in the dropped ceiling upstairs HOWVER the ceiling was dropped for a good reason; it was warmer that way. Who knew that?
icicles hanging from my nose, too
OK, hope it still works because I haven't done any work on the web site for ages: <www.stonybrook-ludlow.co.uk>
Is Kevin McCloud coming to do a Grand Designs on you, Sally? I love watching that programme, it is so interesting to see the whole building process.
No! We were in some local newspaper, and we were asked if we'd be in a magazine but we said no.
You could have been famous!
I stay well out of photos - they tend to break the lens.
that's impressive, Sally, may I tell people I know you??
rofl ruby.
lane
Must update the garden photos some time. Too much to do in my life at the moment.
Oh yes, we can name drop.
btw, haz, there's a great lexulous player named haz!
The house is a joy to live in but was very stressful at the time - more than we say on the site.
Really? I'm glad he/she is good. It's not me, but I'll bask in the reflected glory.
and nice, too, not a competitive nut-case like some of them....lol
Am finding today's grid hard. Not flowing at all.
I used to be mistaken for a lady with the same name as me who entered breads into the local agricultural show competition. She won every year for years and people always told me how well I'd done. I was furious the year that she came third.
lol Haz
It's a one word at a time grid, and watch out for those wrong American spellings at the end of a couple of words.
it's not like that medical grid the other day where each word had many offspring
I have found three of those American ones so far.
*hmph*
which????
They do it deliberately to try to catch us out, but we're up to their tricks...
which American ones?
hu5/16 - you need a good sense of this to laugh.
I think that would give it away, but they all have U as the second letter.
I got that one, hahah
tumor
sorry again
And then there's a ru5 that there's a tu5.
There's also gossip and and the one you just got, ruby
I got the gossip one, I thought that was the only way to spell it, silly me!
phantom: mooch
No, no, proper English has another u incorporated.
Do you think the vi 4/8 is meant to go with the co 6/21?
phanotm: civet, color, viola
It sounds a bit painful, Sally.
ruby, change the vowels in your musical instrument for a French.
I don't understand why they allow so many french words (all of which I miss), but thank you
You're welcome. I think the theory is that a French word is acceptable if it is kind of assimilated into the language, but whether that's correct is debatable.
there's a musical instrument?
but then they're so weird about foreign food names
No, ruby said that viola was a phantom.
no it's phantom strings....
Oh! I was thinking of the flower :-)
is that flower like a primrose?
It's more like a small pansy.
They're very pretty.
Like a pansy, but smaller. Very pretty
aaah
Snap Haz
they grow pansies here all winter
We're joint co-founders of the Viola Appreciation Society.
Pansies and sweet peas are my favourite flowers. I usually grow quite a few sweet peas from seed. Too cold yet to sow seed yere.
We have winter pansies in some our pots.
Sweet peas are glorious for colour and scent, aren't they?
Fantastic Haz.
sweet peas are a flower from my childhood; I've never seen them here. Will look in a couple of weeks when the night frost is finished!
ruby, we have a lot of a little plant which you might like. I call it Mexican Fleabane. Hang on and I'll find the Latin name. Loves dry poor soil.
what color (colour lol) is it? I have no yellow or orange in the garden once the daffs and primrose are finished
Erigeron karvinskianus. A riot of small daisy like flowers which go from white to pink to purple. Impossible to kill - even the hens didn't manage, and it self seeds in cracks and gravel.
She's learning! We'll have you spelling proper English in no time!
lynxxx - you still here? Is Stew any better?
I think we may have that growing in the "lawn". Is that possible?
If you put that into google images you'll see lots of pictures. Very low growing, lovely in pots.
Wouldn't have thought in a lawn.
None of ours has spread onto the grass.
I think God may have planted it along with the primroses and buddleia
oh, maybe not, then
God has planted quite a few buddleias for us, too!
Hi - yes, we had a bit of running round and jumped on beds etc
Must go and do some work; seems like a successul detente around here.
Must go and do some work; seems like a successul detente around here.
It romps away in the gravel though.
Bye for now ruby. I should be doing some paperwork too!
That's good. Did the car ride restore his spirits?
One year my husband set the one existing old buddleia on fire by accident and the next year we had a dozen. all over the place
he also set the pampas grass on fire another year and it is magnificent now
Bobbles. How do you set a buddleia on fire by accident?
He's a bit of a menace with matches, isn't he?
We have a wild flower here, rosebay willow herb, which is reputed to grow well after a fire. It appeared on bomb sites after the war.
Last night - yes, he has been much happier (and people call me silly!)
our little vegetable garden was underneath an overhanging one and he was burning leaves.....he is careless, unfortunately, and has set quite a few fires.....
Tony once set some alight to see if it grew better. It didn't but judging by how it spreads that was as well.
Good, glad to hear that he's happier. Maybe he just needed a look round and a bit of an outing.
see you soon, ladies
Bye ruby!
bye Ruby
bye ruby. May not be back later because out to lunch.
only 39 words, but very nice flowery chat!!!! ((hugs))
And keep the number of the local fire brigade close to hand.
And lock up the matches!
hello
Hello, cross star.
hi Cross Star
32 left. this is a hard one!
It's not one for furiously typing, that's for sure.
Hi cross star, yes I agree I think it is hard.
You are doing well - much better than me
thanx. but it's killing me...hahaha
It's like a revision test in bygone babblets.
This little grid was a challenge
BR, that's the first time I've ever heard you say that.
Goodness, Babble, that's about the second time I've ever heard you declare a grid to be anything other than a breeze.
hi BabRab!
It's official. This grid needs a wee health warning.
Well, I lie a lot
Good morning, Babble Rabble. You are still on dry ground?
You mean we should sometimes just read between the lines?
still dry but the sandbagging is going fast and furious
I hope they do their job.
I am a plodder this is easily stumped and often frustrated
that is ...
wow babblerabble!! finished? what time did you start?
The secret is to not talk about the frustrations... that way people think it's a real walk in the park.
The secret is also not to chat!
Where's the fun in that? But I agree, it can easily be distracting if you're trying to do your own grid and chat AND give clues to other people.
I chat all the time ... my monitor, however, is quite taciturn
right!!
brb
On the plus side, BabbleRabble, it won't argue with you.
still fun.. right?
I imagine having to look at me so much is quite depressing
Monitors are very longsuffering.
I just finished fixing a little computer problem that has been irking me for a bit ... nice to find a solution
how many words today please
98
Well done! When I have a computer problem, I'm afraid it has to remain a problem until I can find somebody else (usually my daughter's boyfriend) to fix it. He says very little, has a little grin on his face, and two minutes later, it's done.
thanx
Nice to have someone like that around.
It's very nice. I'm hoping she hangs onto him.
I give him food at every opportunity to try to keep him onside.
In one of my more dour moments, I told a Microsoft tech that microsoft support was an oxymoron and that he was mot an oxy but the rest fit
hello sandrafrances
And did he laugh or just say 'huh?'
splutter! Wonderful BR.
hello diann how are you doing
It's made me laugh, that's for sure!
up to 37 and having difficulty now. What about you??
he said no need for getting personal
40 and cannot find any more
There's probably a chart somewhere in Microsoft with a big black mark against your name.
Thank goodness for my Apple Mac!
I think you are right ... it was that same tech that could not fix the problem I solved today
diann now 41 and going to have some breakfast otherwise i will be late for my shopping date!!!
see you later kid
You should ring him up and take him through it step by step. He'd really appreciate that, wouldn't he?
hints? still at 36
okee dokee 42
Naughty Haz
I suggest you just go and get ready
Had not thought of that ... just told him to close the file.
Purely for the benefit of future frustrated Microsoft users, you understand.
Go Linux!
lol uni.
linux
Shows how my mind works. I went to a quiz last night where the answer was Linus (as in the Peanuts strip). I wrote Linux before I realised.
phantom: lunatic
Well, I must leave you to the debate on which is best, I need to get ready to go out.
See you Haz. Have a good day.
...but....but...there IS no debate *grins*
diann 44
Have a good day. It's 0100 here!
Nice to chat and maybe see you later. Just keep dredging up previously seen babblets and the grid is doable. Bye!
bye Haz, have good day
Bye!
I'm back although probably still stuck at 39 words. However, having re-heated yesterday's lovely soup, I am not so cold anymore
Is anybody still here? I need a roll call! lol
Hi ruby, still here but just about to vanish and see how many pennies we have in the piggy bank.
Have finished, do you need any clues?
little by little I'm getting the taxes sorted out and had a great talk with dh yesterday, so all will be well, at least for a while lol
dh being husband?
or accountant, lol?
yes, pls, a clue for the 7 and the beginnings of the 2 8's. I've begun to write down babglets, but my accumulation is still small.
would you like some yummy soup for lucnhc?
husband, I've fired the accountant and will use an old friend/'accountant instead
Going out to friends for lunch so have only had banana for breakfast. Long wait to lunch! Hang on while I sort out some clues.
it's tricky, because all the stuff here is in French, but I sorted out the French authority on Tuesday; the woman in charge remembered that I had given her a jar of jam about 6 years ago!
The 8s: ci 8/45 and ur 8/50
Good thinking on the jam ruby.
gave the monkeys bananas and have put them to work!
small gestures can mean a lot, especially when these people are so appreciative of non-arrogant foreigners!
The 7 is co 7/40. Start with a child's bed then (thinking)
OK, co 7/40, start with child's bed, then consonant which is silent in French, then Greek vase
The ci 8/45 is another name for coriander
loved the spice, still working on the vase and the ur
The ur 8/50 would sound as if you were very drunk if it started with the abbreviation for paragraph!
you are so smart!
Some of these are very hard to clue.
ural
bad monkey, bad nel!
Nice place I believe ruby
urinal is another phantom! lol
Yes but you're in the right area, so to speak :-)
The ur 6 and the ur 8 both end with the nervous twitch
ooh, got the 6
Must empty washing machine, be back in two shakes.
these are just two of us, plus dogs of course, and I do at least one load of wash a day. Is that crazy?
Yes it is crazy!
and my husband doesn't perspire....
yay, got the ur8
Yay, ruby!
Have you found the two girl's names?
not yet....hmm
i have but only 3 words starting with the letter A..
this game is good; it keeps me humble! :)
star: I have but 1!
ajar?
There's an A which is a lily
but the other players make it fun, no matter what!
arum
There's what you might jam in
sorry again def going to pb!!
Sorry, put jam in
ahh...
Hi I was hopping for a larger grid so busy later
There are some very familiar babblets, like the aa 5/10
It's a very hard one herin
hello lady, got things sorted out around here but this is a very hard grid!! fun, though
indeed!!!!!!
Good ruby you don't take crap from no one OK
Not finding the grid to difficult but I really am not thinking so maybe the odd thoughts is helping
yes indeed lady and we talked it out and I said so!
Good
I just tried to cheat by using the scrabble dictionary to find the aa word. Enable doesn't accept it!! aalii, too funny
my bedtime is well overdue, but i just can't stop!!!
bab anon for you, star!
That's the one, ruby!!!
There are obviously too many cookies in the PB today.
I just typed it again and it worked. Go figure! sorry to have put it in the chog
and perpetual pb for me!
HI Sally and night Cross
That sometimes happens, but sometimes I think I put a space in at the beginning by mistake.
Hi herin, not really here, am sorting washing and must go in a bit.
multi-tasking sally!
I am watching law and order
here they dub it in French and it's too annoying
erk that sounds annoying. I would rather SubTitles
do you watch the CSI shows? Those, at least, aren't dubbed. I dream about William Petersen....
They aren't on at the moment
I don't mind French-language films, but husband can't understand them enough
Really must be off now. Bye all.
on Sundays we have Las Vegas, my favorite
bye
Cool. Nice Sally
bye Sally and thank you for all the help. Monkeys are still working on the girls' names
Ruby Errm JA 4
I got that one, but thanks
O there is another one?
girls name ,a book in the Bible
but no n's, no o's and couldn't find the co7
hello macadam
what does it start with MAC and hello
old or new testament?
Hi ruby.Old T
what does it start with?
just passed half, yay!!!
It starts with R and hi to you herin.
R what?
Sorry Ru.
I have that, it's my sister's name!
chhers
It means remorse or compassion. Hi ruby, mac, herin
Hi Hydra and thanks
The J is my name.I haven`t been in the grid for ages.
does anybody ever use it without the suffix?

Hi here for a few but I am stuck on the an6
Hi Again - just getting started JMC? - tough grid today
I need both an5's and the an6 so cant help wht
jane
an + tolkein's tree people
sorry - ignore that....i'm new to this
Picnic pest + Egyptian sun god.
an + mountains between europe and asia
ty ty Kateq
hi wht and mom and emj
thats OK em - I still do it to
uh is the tolkien clue the same word as the picnic pest
done! any clues before I go?
cuse i dont know nothing about tolkein
what the heck are you talking about jmc?
two different words
No, those are the two different an5's
Tolkein tree people are the first 3 letters of a word meaning front door. It is useful to remember because it is used frequently in clues.
emj wht gave a clue using Tolkein tree people and I did not read or watch the mo5 -- I was in my very clever and cute manner was expressing that I needed more information
got them - thanks wht - got interrupted at work so took me longer
its okay one of my staff members is a big tolkein fan
whoo hooo kateq!
any clues for the ar 6/24?
ar+mu4/6

Hello Babblers, I am finally half way!
en + autom****
thanks a lot Atalante.
helped me too, thanks Atal.
yw!
I got my fireworks. I swear some of those words are WAY out there weird.
whoo hooo ormat
never ata it is not my genre
okay i am going to get some work done i will bbl
congratulations Ormal!!!
ty all. Now I have to figure out what to cook for dinner later so I can take some meat out.
well, Chicken seems to be always popular.
I LOVE chicken. My problem is narrowing down what dish to cook. :D
that I can not help with, I tend to put the chciken in with a can of soup, cream of something and bake it....and then I am done.
I just made a great greek(ish) chicken dish for dinner. Yummm.
I like chicken in chicken stock and then add rice or noodles
not that I'm upping my cooking skills...a fool could make this
it sounds nice, I love the stuffed grape leaves...when seasoned nicely.
Nancy Boy...Greekish? Hubby is Greekish
What did you do
very loosely greekish ;) the kind of greekish that an actual greek person might laugh at ;)
as long as it is edible!
I love Greek yoghurt, Fage
He doesn't laugh - he eats - WHATEVER I stick in front of him. He's happiest if it's tasty, or has Kalamata olives in it. lol
thats good husband, my Dad is like this too...
just mixed some houmous (or hummus if you like) with greek yoghurt in roughly even amounts, use this to line some toasted pita bread pockets; cut some chicken breasts into small chunks and marinate them for 30 mins in turmeric, cumin and ground coriander before cooking in a wok or whatever...put these in the pita bread, add some sliced yellow pepper, lettuce, and tomato...
and serve with bibs and tissues because, seriously, it's SO messy
NancyB, that sounds very very nice....
Bichon - I never had that. Nancy Boy, that sounds great to me!
sounds yummy!
Simple but effective. You end up wearing a lot of it though :)
oh! I forgot the lime juice. You put the spices in the lime juice and then you marinate the chicken in all of that. d'oh.
chog gets silent as we all secrectly head to NB's home....
LOL
raid his table and reach for the bibs
if people are interested in the recipe I'll put the whole thing with quantities etc in my profile...having a recipe in there is the new in thing. It's quick to make, anyway. Fits a purpose ;)
would be nice with prawns too, with less humous and more gloop
Does anyone here eat Fage [pronounce Fay-yee] like crazy. It's so creamy and not too tart
not sure we can get it here....
never heard of it!
They sell it in the US
what is it?
is a greek style yogurt, my siter likes it, I don't. it is too slippery
hello all, back to find more words.
*sister* even
at risk of asking for a fish, can someone clue the Lone i in the near right hand row?
hi, Peri :)
hi peri..
hi three NB, how are you, your recipe sound delish
it6 - slopy writing
thanks, Peri! I'm well thanks, and you?
* there* even *sigh*
doing ok today
ooooh thanks!
hello babblers
hi pippin
how are you ata?
wrapping up mother's day presents and glaring at the grid!
peri, the yoghurt is too slippery? You're not supposed to walk on it <g>
might be time to list...got to the point of entering celebrity names. FYI, 'Thom', as in Yorke, is a no-go.
i think it will be a day to be thankful for lickety
I do like grids with Thom in though
I like bands with Thom in.
i am nursing a brutal hangover and may not make it to climbing today :(
Thom is wonderful
Thanks for the food ideas everyone. I wrote yours down it sounded so good NB. Gotta run, phone keeps ringing.
I agree, Ata, I'm a huge fan :) I shudder to think what I must have spent on Radiohead tickets so far. Worth it though.
oooh, thanks Ormal :D
ditto!
If I was a cat, I'd be purring right now
Hi All
Hi, Hego :)
Pippin, are those new shoes I see?
Hola all! Can someone clue the ar 6 please
about a month old, hego - rock climbing shoes
nice!
*stumbles into chog, in a sugar-induced frenzy*
there's a real fish in here today.
Hi Eva
afternoon, hego :)
*arranges crash-mats around Eva* safety first. always, always safety first.
hi sugary Eva!!
lol nb
i like fish! just, um, maybe not today...
ar 6 please
ok kids, tell me if this is not the single most wonderful business idea you have ever heard of: Curbside Cupcakes -- a mobile cupcake van, just like the ice cream man!
I'm a word impaired SG
they have a couple here and in Austin they do well
i am down to 5
and blind
PERFECT!
that was A-word
dont get the clue
they were just outside my building and i MAY have bought a half-dozen. treated myself to the Key Lime. *drools*
how fab!!
*shares the rest with chog* i also have vanilla, chocolate, red velvet, carrot cake, and peanut butter cup...
Vanilla pls!
NB, darling, cupcake for you?
eva! enters chog and greets eva like a long lost friend...
ar6, ar + if you are shy/modest, you might be called de****
oog. sticking with plain bread till stomach stops acrobatics
I would, Eva, but I have a carbohydrate-related phobia ;)
ty amelu
*offers chocolate cupcake to red*
yw
So NB I do too. What do you eat?
ty Amu, the a-word impaired of the world send blessings on your head.
ill take your carbs, NB. you just enjoy the yummy. :)
Ty Nancy.
indeed
I had help and got over my fear of carbs...
Hi Red
hi hego...
a LOT of raw things, Science :) lots of raw veg. yum yum yum...
no protein?
because in terms of calorie intake, I have a choice between food and alcohol. and...well...
according to my headache and stomach, alcohol is the devil
I don't have the knack of balancing things very well. Chicken this evening though! Mmm, meat.
alcohol is pure carbs
alcohol is what keeps my kids alive.
lol kc
how very dare you, Pippin! ;)
yes but science, I don't have to chew it, so I don't have to mind ;)
lol
well nb, i certainly didn't think so last night
but you are young, NB!
Well. I have unexpectedly finished off the T's/ We are having quite a stormy day...
I compromise, Science. In my early teens I developed anorexia, but my relationship with food is a lot more healthy now.
*drowns peanut butter cup cupcake in kahluah and offers it tNB*
Kahluah, Eva? :)
if youre gonna cupcake, you may as well cupcake right. ;)
LOL. This I believe thoroughly! At one point, literally all I would eat was celery and lettuce leaves. But food is something to be enjoyed now :D
interesting red, only just started raining here, but very windy all day
very dark and wet here....
gah. one reason I can't do anorexia. I'm not a huge lettuce fan...
I think I am going to take a break. need to sleep.
also, I am unfortunately a huge FOOD fan. As is evidenced by my thighs!
i used to eat very healthily -- small portions more often throughout the day, and TONS of fruits and veggies. it wasnt intentional, i just ate what i wanted when i was hungry. somehow, that turned into burgers and mac-n-cheese in huge portions...
LOL Kc. I don't think it's something you "do", I think it's more something that suckers you in. For me, I had an obsession with "being healthy" - not realizing, of course, that I really, really wasn't.
ok... any hints on the it 6? Oh believe me NB, I know... just making a little light.
It6? writing that slants sideways :)
it6 is a type of font... bold, underlined, or it6
ARGH. it's always an obvious one isn't it!!!
*huggles NB* im afraid its that sad, sad time of day when i have to be going...
Eva! stay and play with meeee
oh, dear NB, would that i could. but alas, i have cupcakes to get home to dear fiance before they harden and a beer tapping to go to tonight...
dont share the cupcakes! eat them!
Sounds nice. Much better than dealing with my now-suspended child and her super cranky older brother
*sighs* well Eva...if it's for the cupcakes...:)
*confesses* i dont even like chocolate cupcakes. i got it for him!
and beer too NB! hehe
Now THAT is love. getting cupcakes you won't eat!
no, love would be giving him the ones i DO want. ;)
¡sʞɹoÊÇɹıɟ
LOL!
anywho, im off kiddos. i shall be here tomorrow -- same bat-time, same bat-channel!
wtg (even if upside down!)
*snoggles NB on my way out*
hi all :)
Have fun, Eva! x
Hi Pini

2 hours? honey, I don't get off work for another 4 hours and then the flight will be about 9 hours! Guess I'll have to miss out on tonight's festivities! :(
in 2 hours I will be curled up in bed listening to the radio - OMG I'm middle aged!!!!
ROFL

LOL Katie...you most certainly are not...a couple of nights ago I ended up crawling into bed at six PM!
...because that's when the night before ended and I finally got home ;)
but, you're a baby, NB!!! You need your sleep, too!
OMG! Nevermind what I said...you youngin' you!!!
Now the only reason I am up at 5am is because I have an important meeting lol

oh god i'm so stupid! :D
You can by Hershey's powder to make hot chocolate...

thanks guys :)

Hi Elegant
Hi Elegant
Hi better half
she says hello and tells me i must behave...
LOL!! luckily for me, the only woman around here is the cat. I am daunted by women though. I couldn't do the things they do. I'm very aware that they're so much stronger than me.
hi kitty!
OK this is serious - I have 2 left - a TA6 and TU6 - HELP

Crossy?!!
hehe just kidding on that last one
Did you see the story online today about the guy who married his pillow?
I suppose on that happy/bewildering note, I should go get ready to go out :) or Leo will start complaining about how much time I spend/start calling me his "lady friend"

hello nan
only have one an 5 -- the one that was clued. Could I have a clue for the other, please?
why do the vowels always fox me so? any help with the a's?
an +**ap door
that's the one I have, bichon
an + a mom*** in time
ah -- ty -- another babblet missed!
is the aa a fish, or a nonword?
it's a non-word, weird vowel combos
don't know pip -- there is an aa babblet, but can never remember what it is nor if it is a 4 or a 5
it's an aa5 here
5/?
aa5/10
ah -- 2 double vowels
aa consonant me me

I'm trying to Babble with a 3 y.o. in my lap
3 y.o. could probably come up with some of these words

hi everyone
ty for ar 4, mia
hello, everyone :)
LOOKING AT THE WRONG AR. -faceplant-
feed your monkeys, miam!
i have ar6.24 from the right one, but not the other from there yet.
okay kittens, must start laundry
my monkeys? lol
njoy, pippin
Miametro I do not find your photo on your profile appropriate for babble!
mia could you take the porn off of your profile before my mom see's it.
There are children that play this game
One here.
my point exactly thank you Reese's and sorry you have been objected!
uhm, i have no idea what you guys are talking about?
thank you.
!!!
in your flickr, check ur profile
those are *not* my pictures :(
we don't accept porn on this site mia -- please take it down.
perhaps you can report them
ah, like flosey and last.fm
if someone else has put them there you should be able to report them
yes people invade your space!
not your account then, mia?
it was pulling from someone else's (obviously very naughty) account! fixed now. sorry guys!
no worries miametro, we all get invaded now and again
glad we could let you know there were there! (0:
indeed we do, it happens. thank you for addressing it . :)
thank you Mia. Mom would have never let me play babble again if she saw that pic.
it can be very scary how people would want to do that!
do not be sorry miametro, this was not your doing and was addressed quickly, no harm done
but very worrying non the less that people would want to invade someones space!
i think it was more that babble was pulling in the wrong account - those pictures weren't on mine (thankfully)
and that someone would be able to -- thought this was a relatively 'safe' site. I hope Dr. G. catches it.
We get trolls here often, thankfully usually there are only verbal!
cyber do you know how to contact dr G to let him know?
no -- he used to have a link for such things, but don't see it now.
but someone usually contacts him for trolls so someone must know
DC do you know?
miametro do you know?
anyone?
it's easy... at bottom of this page.. become a friend of babble.. his email
well, this could be a matter like flosey and last.fm, where usernames on the two sites don't match
so will it be fixed now that miametro has taken it off her profile?
should be, as other pictures are linked now
it seems a little scary DC that this can be on someones profile without them even knowing
oh. I missed some hot pics...
miametro please do not be dismayed by this mistake, we would not like you to suffer for someone elses ......whatever!
(just kidding)
just one pic, and not actually very hot, just, um, dirty
co6/21....clue, please
hi Ruru, porn pushed onto someone's profile is not hot pics
oh.. they look normal to me
kidding or not!
found the link on angelsongs page and have sent a message to Dr. G. -- but we must keep in mind that it could have originated through flicker or Babble Expert
aeb, like after sex smoke would be post co****
oh thank you cyber! (0:
aeb, co6 relations
nan, there's an easier link. bottom left "become a friend of babble" takes you to his direct email
how about the co7?
miametro are you still here?
ty dcseain....i don't smoke and have been off sex for awhile.
co+ ten times ten is one ***dr*d
co + change the vowel in a rose's barb
(was observing a kid in math class today)
and i gave the co6, not 7. never mind. i'll go back into lurking mode
ty nan!
aaww I think she got frightened off, that is terrible
22 left and thinking maybe I should list now
i have 23 left but have lost all interest in finding them now! )0:
still can't find that an 6 -- any clues?
sorry nan, don't have it either
an6 - an + Russian mountains (but singular)
ty vi!
ty vic
You're welcome. Hello, all.
is it only me that cares?
I am sorry that she left and hope she will be back. But if we let the trolls upset our game, they win.
Reading back, it doesn't look to me like miametro left upset (I assume this is what you're referring to), Dr G has been notified, and it's probably some weird fluke with flickr.
ar 6/24, please?
ar6/24 - if it began with de- instead of ar- it would mean modest...
or try upper limb + p--- and simple
la5/10. please
hello
la5/10 - la + the beginning of actress Witherspoon
Hello, harpjane.
ty vi
ty Vi
hi harp
Hi Babble friends
Hello, DR.
How Are you Vic?
I have not been here very much lately
Dandy, thanks. You?
good thanks- just busy
Well, better than bored, I guess!
Yes- I agree
Anyone need any more clues? Last call before I start making dinner.
I am pleased that this has not affected your game! this is a game! when someone is defiled by pornography it is not to be taken lightly, this is not a case of a simple troll, it is more than that, it has entered this poor womans profile and the fact she left without saying goodbye makes me believe it upset her very much as it would anyone! I can't just leave it there and go on with a puzzle!
uh 5, please?
does anyone have the un6?
un + lease
ty nan
uh5 - uh + ---d of Goshen
ty vi
Lindy- I was not here so I dont know of what you speak but that would be a concern to me if it happened to my profile
thank you DR I am so pleased that someone shows the same concern as me
yvw Lindy
this member of Babble was infected in her flicker by porn and was told it was inappropriate, when she protested it was not of her doing and got rid of it, I feel she didn't get the backing she deserved and left the chat with no more to say
I don't feel this can be considered a Troll as I would be devestated!
my brother had a problem where someone hacked one of his email accounts and sent porn to my Mom along with ads for Viagra... so I understand what you are saying!
he had to keep explaining he did not send it!
i can't play my last 23 words as it seems totally inappropriate
ty DR I thought I was the only one who cared
en6?
hello
*!* ta da *!* - thanks for the help :)
en + top storey of a house
hello ppl
Well done Cyber
hi kenzie
hi kenz
thanks! what about the ne5?
i mean en5
e + hospital care giver - one letter

off to make a cup of tea -- back in 10 to clue
well nanight DR was great to have someone listen!
night all
If there are oilcans, why not an oiljar?
aa5?
babblet harp aa & con & double vowel
hello all
'poof'
thinking this grid is not nice
the aa word isn't friendly
thanks
It's the first grid I've done in ages, and it's not all that fun
ci8?
sorry harp, I just started...
ci8- herb commonly used in spanish cooking
ci is a spice
ci - a spice, mexican food
for the AA word, think Muhammed - the boxer
thanks
Is Lickety up? I have 63 words, probably 2/3 of them from the monkey.
mmmmm ci8
so what was lindrick talking about?
should i go read the archives
ci 8: herb used in everything from salads to meat dishes
lickety is up
i am very found of ci8 i grow it myself for my verde sauce that i freeze
one of our players was the victim of hacker who posted a porn pic on her flicker account
Thanks
and they left the babble chog?
yes -- but if you have any flicker pictures posted, I would check to make sure there are no surprises!
anyone want any clues before I leave?
I guess not -- back at the flip :)
i just read the archive seems under cotrol
i have no flicker pics since i don't want other people to use my photos
Hey All....
bye cyber have a nice evening
hi aussie
I'm not staying, I just wanted to tell people that I have passed my first 2 test papers for my Child Psychology degree...... **doing little happy dance for me**
gots to go, Hubby wants me......
**poof**
wooo hoooo aussie!
Does Linda Launchbury mean anything to anyone here? I keep getting emails from her about babble, Dont know her
she is lindrickway
AAh!
She tells about a bad experience on Babble with pornography. What happened?
clue for the lone N?
she was just on talking about it
harpjane, it is the hawaian goose
oh, crap! thanks
hi all, hi lil bit
hey TO!
i have some good news...anyone wanna hear?
sure!
absolutely little
i had surgery this past summer for colon cancer. just had my nine month check-up and doc said i'm doing great!!
inge that is Lindrickway
wonderful little!
great news lil but!
lol i am not talking about your butt sorry
thanks!
apparently miametro's flicker pics got highjacked with porn and after several comments mia figured it out and got rid of it
lol..that's too funny!
i am distracted listening to internet radio
not the porn...TO's comment!!
when mia left without saying good bye lindrick felt that mia had left feeling hurt that she did not get more support for porn being put on her profile
understood little
but lots of people leave without saying good buy
er*goodbye
Littlebit, not paying attention to chat, but good for your uplifting news! Thanks for sharing.
wait a sec= if it's not too involved, the porn was posted on flick via babble? or on bable profile?
posted on babble via flick on her profile
yw stidmere! i was happy about it. sat. lil monkey and i are gonna celebrate!
so her icon was porn?
no a photo in the flicker section was porn
ok. ty for clarifying. just nosy
not that we haven't had babblers post adult icons before
i understand TO! lol
Sounds like a thrilling day in Babbleville!
apparently lindrick has dropped out of babble because she felt people didn't react properly
people are people even in babbleland
what's your icon?
don't you have to register a username to post pics on flicker?
How were we supposed to react to material that was not li5?
probably -- i don't use flicker -- i do know another babbler had problems with someone else's taste in music being attributed to her by flicker
no that was last fm je. do all of the u words begin with un?
yaa for littlebit!! glad your check up went well.i have a checkup myself tomorrow at our cancer hospital
as near as i can tell the people who were here (and i was not one of them but went back and read the archive) were not indignant enough for lindrick
my icon is my late husband i put it up yesterday because it was his birthday
thanks crossy!! let us know how it goes for ya!!
je she may change her mind, let's leave that door open
just haven't decided what to change to yet
as far as i am concerned everyone is welcome except hardcore trolls
I'm sorry- I don't understand how people can personalize the randomness of chat.
I was lurking (as always) but I wasn't so convinced that the pics weren't that persons to begin with sorry - just me being me
belaboring it makes it worse. een there. nuff said. *dives into grid*
well there are distinct personalities in chat kap -- but i don't take it seriously when i am criticized
It looks like your husband was giving a lecture. What was his specialty?
hi stidgmere
he was a deaf criminal trial lawyer and he was arguing a case stid
and if things get heated i leave for a few minutes until a new group of people wander in
Distinct personalities, yes--but it's still a chat on a game!
hi all
hi barb
Thank you jmc, it looked interesting.
that was going on right as my internet cut out - and frankly i felt like lindrick went way over the top in the reaction to the matter
exactly kap
I soooooooooo agree with you pippin
and had it been my flickr pix that were showing porn i would have left just t avoid hearing the response
Well, here's to placid waters and cool temperaments prevailing.
is it just me or is this one difficult?
i came in right as lind was leaving so i went and read the archive
this one is difficult barb
uh oh, i was keeping it light and chatty at the time cause i suspected it went in there by mistake
*pours oil on water*
I think it is difficult because I type in some gosh awful combination and it turns out to be a real word.
lol too funny stid
hi, all. I got an e mail from a Babbler who has left the game....some fireworks in the chog today?
it was a mistake that it was there, and then lind was all "dr god needs a way to make sure this can never ever happen!"
I have gotten most of my words today by monkeying.
*taps toes and looks at watch*
how is everyone?
almost quitting time
Are you going somewhere jmc? I got my hair cut today. So much for glamour.
hi angel
i love haircuts, it's like i get to look like me again for a few weeks
geez, I wonder if she emailed her congressman too? lol
are you all glamorous now stidgmere
I think people bring themselves to whatever group they join.
Wasn't me, I am a latecomer and non participant in any of the prior stuff.
onstead of catching up on the news i am enjoying a show of sance and techno. why do i feel guilty?
I am true glamour in my sweatshirt and jeans.
*gently smacks lady's hand*
I am just here to chill and excercise my rapier-like wit.
because TO one of your great joys in life is feeling guilty *pokes TO in the ribs*
Because I am Paul Lynde.
Probably shows up as one of those attachments (babblet?) to a bill.
*hands kap a hone*
don't mess with me, sistah
hi, Jmc
Kaplan, I feel like jousting--nono, that is on Puzzle Pirates. Wrong game.
A hone?
lol TO
paul lynde?? i just had a nasty hollywood squares flashback
geesh don't you hate it when your brain takes a vacation without you...mine just did
to sharpen your wit
ty je
i remember watching paul lynde LOL
Oh- I thought it was bone. You can see I need it.
the old hs had tons of double entrendres
Paul Lynde was so subversive.
If my brain took a vacation without me, it would at least get to go someplace.
lol
Kids! You can talk and talk till your face is blue! Kids! But they still just do what they want to do! Why can't they be like we were, Perfect in every way? What's the matter with kids today?
All Paul Lynde had to do was say Good Morning with a leer and it became a double entendre.
sorry, I tell it like it is...and i know sometimes feelings get hurt but I really wasn't convinced those weren't her pics - otherwise why did she just disappear?
*dancing *
trouble is you think it would at least bring you back a t-shirt or something
ok I am done with the porno stuff
tomorrow is my day off!
Some of his better quips live on you-tube.
there's porno?
lol barb
maybe because she was at work -- i disappear all the time
Here we go again.
sorry Kap....
I liked wally cox better
read the archive esprit
and rose marie
Probably something like, I got to go to France and you didn't. Tee shirt stuff.
charlie weaver
and jonathan winters when he was on his medicine
When we die, do we find eternal life in Hollywood Squares?
yes yes charlie weaver!
hey that would be better than nothing at all NO?
ok,no more por..lets talk about bacon;))
the best - he is THE BEST
ooo loved charlie weaver
Mais, oui.
i mean jonathan
*checks watch* two minutes!
Here we go- Boomers waxing nostalgic. We're going to be lots of fun in the senior home!
Bacon? Well, it's good. I like mine with breakfast.
what cha' waiting for JMC? if we may inquire?
This isn't the senior home? Kaplan.
a little on the crispy side would be good too
why can't they be like WE were perfect in every way!
i watched as a kid with my re4s
Go, go, jmc; you're the boss, right?
waiting for when I can declare the hotline closed for the night and go home
we were...or we just didn't get caught ;)
Oh- I didn't realize I've been placed in a home. I guess you're right.
I am trying to set an example
Can any one identify this lyric, sung to the tune of Polly WOlly Doodle?
Here goes:
so i am babbling at work LOLLOLOLOLOLO
have to go find my son and send his friend home...he was suppose to leave soon...back in a bit
"fare the well
phantoms: couture, halite, halva
Well, have a nice evening, jmc. Two minutes are up.
Fare the well/Metrecal/and others of that ilk/let the diet start tomorrow cause today I'll drown my sorrow/in a double malted milk"
is it...fare the well , fare the well, fare the well my something maid?
geez i don't go back THAT far
See below.
bye alll!
my mom use to rock me to sleep singing that song lol
Bye JM.
She sang you to sleep singing "Fare thee well, metrecal???"
bye je
no silly, polly wolly doodle etc
fare thee well, fare thee well, fare thee well my fair young maid, for I'm goin to alabama for to see my suszi anna simging polly wolly doodle all the day
or something
or maybe it was loosiana insead of alabama
ID this lyric, then : Fare the well, metrecal, and others of that ilk/
let th ediet start tomorrow cause today I'll drown my sorrow in a double Malted Milk!
No takers?
I went down South, for to see my Sal,
i guess today's as good a day as any to stat my diet, even if it's by accident and threat
NO!!! Fare the well, METRECAL! etc.
bbl
singing Pollywolly Doodle, all the day, My Sal, she is a lucky gal, singing Pollywooly Doodle, all the day.
i always thought it was fare thee well
Sing it to the tune of polly wolly doodle!
It's a parody, people!
how do i have 7 left and still don't have the upper left corner e?
Fare the well/Metrecal/and others of that ilk/let the diet start tomorrow cause today I'll drown my sorrow/in a double malted milk"
No Allen Sherman fans here?
I wish we had skype babble chog!!
I want to hear Kap singing
Groucho walks into the courtroom, puts is portfolio on the table and says "I rest my case."
"I never forget a face...but in your case I'm willing to make an exception."
is that a joke or do we have to sing that to the tune of Polly Wolly Doodle.....
I get like this when I get a migraine. No- sing the fare thee well Metrecal lyric to the tune of Polly Wolly Doodle. DO I make myself clear?
I have 20 words left and I say, the hell with it.
I am just kidding you - YOU made yourself clear 10 minutes ago....I get it!!
crossy warbles the song 'black velvet band" off key....
Hi Is ther a list please?
This is what I mean about people really shouldn't take the banter here personally. We'd all be leaving an a huff!
licketys seems to be working fine herin
Lady B, did you go to the cafe I told you about?
Brillant I need to do this and go
I haven't yet but a friend of mine who is in the coffee business went there the following day on a sales call
she said it was great!
Really?
I became on fan on FB and now i get there daily specials plan on heading up there the next nice Saturday
That is so cool!
small world because as soon as my friend saw on FB that I became a fan she posted a FB message saying she already had an appointment with them for the next day
Excellent!
Thank you crossie I need the list
do you live in NE too?
I live in Somerville, Mass- just outside of Cambridge.
Somerville used to be to Cambridge what Pawtucket is to Providence- but then came gentrification.
I don't know why I thought you were in the DC area
Because I'm so senatorial?
I really don't know why I thought DC maybe it was something you said in a chog once who knows..
I must have been lying about something.
maybe you said something about having dinner at the white house lol
Senators have dinner in the cafeteria.
Not if there name is Kap!
I wouldn't know.
The magne makes me think, large head?
I don't plan on finishing my last 20 words.
I KNOW I won't finish by 47!!!! words - I am really bad at this game
I have 50 and there is not way this grid is going to be finished. I still have whole letters without one entry for them. Oh, the shame of it.
okay, now that i've seen the whole chog account i think the pr0n issue got way out of hand
Magne was just a typo. I was typing magnificent, as in "Mr Kaplan the Magnificent." As I explained when I joined, he was the title character in a series of stories in the New Yorker.
Thank you!
Lady B, this is not a game, it is LIFE.
hah!
4 left and losing steam
ok so I guess my life sucks - or I am bad at it, anyway
going to go get my work shirts out of the dryer and see what i can finish
In other incarnations, we will be much better.
See you later pippin
arco
and maybe dad will have drunk himself to sleep so i can get some food and salvage what's left of my day off
OOOPS
Hey again and on porn I found pics on my b.fs community hard drive and I said to him I don't know what is more disturbing this or Brittany Spears on itunes. Smarty pants said At least it wasn't Celion Dion
thanks, Kap. Attention everyone, 46 left!!!
LOL
How can you read the whole chog? I have nothing better to do
Gas station?
Kap I am a spred reader
and i am done and out
well, guess i'll eat later. or have some peanut butter. or just not eat. safer than dealing with dad
now, let's tackle these last 4!
Pipp, you sound like its really a tough time right now. Anything we can do?
Herin, are you fireworked? Good!
just help me pass the time till june comes and i can get the f*** out of here
i suppose i could leave sooner since june is an arbitrary leaving time, but i'm trying to save as much money as possible first, and that's when tourist season ends
Well, that chat has been pretty lively this late afternoon. Some people have gone home from work but others should be coming on from home.
It is difficult to leave when money accumulation is a big part of why you are whre you are. I hope at the least you are safe.
my monkeys are tired, any hints for the un5/14?
well, I read the chog and it happened just before I came stumbling in. Chog is not group therapy!
i'm safe, just spend a lot of time hiding in my room and then getting yelled at for its lack of cleanliness
it seems there was some content that was not li5.
I don't have 5, 14 yet.
but at least dad doesn't attempt the stairs ever, so that's a bonus
Hard to clean a place you want to leave.
harder to keep things clean when you're living out of boxes for 2 years and there's no "away" to put stuff
I'm leaving before the fireworks.
i'm basically just throwing away everything to get her off my back
kap! we can help!
Okay Kaplan, enjoy your dinner at the White House. Hope you have your invitation--no I guess we don't need those any more, its come as you are.
finally, got the r's! now, 2 more left...
and that's the hu5, which i need more of tonight

lbd, apparently our regular quarterly melodrama was yesterday, but I missed it
ar6.24 upper extremity + P*** Country
i recommend searching the archives
ahh, guess i did too, nrk.
I did get the message about the drama earlier, but I must admit, I don't see what the big hoopty is....
there was melodrama today too
a bit of overreaction trif -- hopefully it will calm down
ah, well don't mean to rehash, I wasn't here, don't know, don't care (sorry)... trying to live a melodrama-free life :)
nah, i don't need drama or melodrama in my life. i have enough of my own.
donno what happened yesterday -- I actually worked most of the day
didn't know there was stuff yesterday.....
this jumping grid is a bit much...anyone know what is causing it?
i am getting no where with the UN words except the dark one
are there storms in your area, MP?

Not at all! even at their worst, they are still the best time I have ever had
Hi Everybody. How are you all tonight? And how is the grid?
Hi, Nef! Tired...
LOL, Trif. Do you have a teenaged stepchild and a son who should have left home for his 'own space' years ago and a daughter who has left home but still comes home but can't find her old room?
Hi Nef.
hi nef, hi jel, hi jac. just came back to say nighty night. see you all tomorrow
Hi and bye, lbd...

ci8 is another form of coriander.
Thanks, Trif and cross...love ci 8, used a lot in Mexican food...
'Night Trif.
Coriander is fine in small doses. I don't like a lot of it in food.
Jac, as someone who didn't get along with my own step mother (and she hated me!); I left and was raised by an aunt. My step mother and I are good friends now. I was disowned when I left at age 16; so it took about 6 years before we could be civil
It's more overpowering than garlic if used too freely.
brb...
nite Trifi
Nef - well, I hope that doesn't happen to me and step! We get along okay, but just annoy each other at times.
Sometimes, I get annoyed, not so much as her but at her former schooling and her mother.
My step mother is 11 years older than me; she was 26 when my Dad came and got us 4 kids (ages 15,13,10, & 8) and added us to their kids (ages 2 & 4); my older sister wouldn't go with us. Step mother had been an only child; she was over-whelmed
For instance, earlier this evening when she came home from work experience at a local farm, the knelt on the floor with her head down and got in the way. 'Stop praying to Mecca and get out of the bloody way!' I said. 'Who's Mecca?' she asked. Luckily, my son was in the room I'd just left and I knew he would explain it to her.
Nef - I, too, was an only child, but onluy because my twin died before we were born.
I am 12 years older than Step's Dad and a fair bit more older than her mother.
I'm only about 9 years' younger than her mum's mother.
I was pretty DUMB when i was 15. Once my stepmother told me to "watch the roast" while she ran off to the store for something. She came back and the roast was burnt; she got mad and I told her what time the roast started burning
hello - back for my last 22... almost forgot and had gone to bed!
hi kje
I'm 37 years older than my stepdaughter.
Almost 38, in truth.
Wow! Congrats for "robbing the cradle," Jac1
LOL Nef.
I didn't actually TRY! It just happened and felt right.

Hi, kje
hi big blue J!
My AUnt and Uncle who raised me were very strict; but when it camme down to living with my own father (who put no limits on us at all) or a strict rigid place to grow; I chose the strict place
i just got home from phantom on stage, and a huge dinner with a cocktail and 3 glasses of red wine - I am sleepy
Nef - I will, I do, and I know, but she still, since she does have sense of humour, 'expect' me to play the wicked stepmother from the fairytales, so she often has to take 'the poisoned apple' for lunch, or get ground glass in her dinner. LOL
wow, kje! You still remembered to come back and finish Babble!
well, eventually, yes... I am in bed and was almost asleep
Babbling in bed: now *that* sounds decadent! ;-)
LOL - this is where i babble 90% of the time
me and my laptop
Jac, she may test you; but just hang in there. It sounds like it's working
co6/27?
Unfortunately, I haven't yet succeeded in making her wear rags and sweep the hearth whilst my daughter went off to a ball to meet Prince Charming.
I can't imagine it, kje. I fall asleep at my keyboard often enough; but using a computer in bed would give me a backache
Pshaw! You can't get the staff these days!
Jac, I don't think there are any Prince Charmings left these days, are there?
ar5 clue please?
ar5 - playing field or music venue?
(sorry, kje, I don't have it yet. Working on it, but haven't found it yet)
Nef - there are! They're shy so they won't present themselves when you're looking for them.
k
They will arrive when you least expect it.

Ooh, I met a Prince Charming...

I think my other half has finaly stopped coughing now, sine I went up and spooned him to teaspoons of cough mixture. He's hopefully stopped hogging my pillows and my side of the bed now. If he comes down here now he'll see me drinking 'his' red wine that I bought and tell me to'Go to bed Woman@'
However, if I can get up there before he gets up, I can shove him off my side of the bed and get a small victory.

it's a treat sauce, to say the least. :)
one of very, very few things i cook with butter
I feel guilty putting a shaving of butter from a stick on my baked potato
jilli, I've coe to believe th** no food is off limits. You could probably have some -say a tablespoon of it- every other day! ;-)
i rarely make potatoes, other than the simple recipe in my profile or stew.
nef, when I'm not trying to lose weight I use a bit of butter, but now I still have a few more pounds to get rid of
so I should have said "my baked half-potato"
